16oz can (no date) poured into 16oz tulip. Poured a very hazy (not murky) orange color with over an inch of white head that had very good retention and light lacing.

The aroma had dank (in the musty, dirt basement way, not the weed way) hops upfront, with a bit of citrus.

On the tongue, musty, dirty hops still had the front, and a bit of malt and citrusy hops showed through in the back.

The body was light-medium, a bit coarse across the tastebuds, with a semi-dry finish.

Drinkability was OK, but the dirty hops made it a bit of a chore.

Overall, an OK-ish beer, but not one I'll seek out again. YMMV.

Hazy gold with two fingers of dense cream color head. Lots of fine bubble lace.
Smell is slightly dank leather hops with plenty of bready malts.
Lots of sweet malts, leather dank herbal hops.
Mouthfeel is medium plus with good carbonation. Finish is dry and mostly balanced.
Overall a tasty malty DIPA. Bottled on 05/26/20.

Bomber dated 08/25/17, rated on 11/17/17. Local beer, just up the road. The pour is the usual hazy-amber-light head we've learned comes standard with PNW IPAs. Nothing wrong, there, it's pretty much the norm. Aroma is beer and a light citrus / piney notes. Taste is straight IPA and somewhat one-dimensional. The alchohol comes through as hot and persistent. As a DIPA, its in the wheelhouse, but needs some work.

The appearance is nice with decent lacing on the glass. The foam on the head is very exaggerated. The beer pours a nice transparent orange hue. The nose is all malt and butter (diacetyl). The taste follows. It has some undertones of the hop bitterness but the flavor is dominated by heavy and buttery caramel malts. It's just not a very good beer. The mouthfeel is fine but not great. I keep rooting for Heathen in a city with really mediocre brewers but I can't recommend this one. It doesn't deliver.

Pleasantly sparkly on the tongue. Dark amber in the tumbler with plenty of foam. Aroma of honeysuckle and pine.

The spiciness is really inviting. A little woody but biscuity and grainy to mellow out. Just sharp enough with a malty undertone. Moderate bitterness with some sweetness at the finish, makes a good combination.

Quite drinkable and zingy big-hop brew. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at 99 Beers in Federal Way.
