Pours a pitch black color with a thin foamy head. Small pour. Retention is minimal and lacing is decent. Big boozy aroma mild citrus, dark fruits and dark chocolate. A lot of dark fruits on the taste. Some citrus. Very boozy. Heavy bodied with moderate carbonation.

September 10th, 2018 - The Nyctophobia is the most burly brew I’m imbibing on my birthday, coming somewhere at midday but getting the jump on my palate. It’s an inky black beer, with a potent smell, suggesting a personal history spent in a barrel. By itself it is a good, smooth bodied beer, with lots of flavor but not going overboard with sweetness, licorice, or viscousness. But the gentleman behind the bar blended us up a mixture with the Nyctophobia and a fruit tart beer, and the resulting combination was phenomenal. The tart brightens up an otherwise dark and brutish beer, giving it a delicious complexity. Definitely a highlight of our day puttering around the area.
