Formerly Pioneer Yellow Rose until it was made year-round.
A SMaSH, Single Malt and Single Hop, IPA using a caboodle (technical term for a large amount of malt) of malt and a new hop released in 2012 called Mosaic (HBC 369). It is a daughter of Simcoe (YCR 14), one of our favorite hops. Whole cone Mosaic is used for bittering, flavoring, and aroma in the kettle; it is also massively dry hopped. The beer is named after a Texas Heroine.
Tasting notes: chalk-white head with a very clean malt backbone. The hops impart strong grapefruit, pineapple, and blueberry flavor and aroma. A strong beer that is extremely quaffable.

Poor is a lovely, bright, yellow, orange color. Cloudy and opaque. Thick fluffy white head. Aroma has a lovely, bright notes of citrus, grass, and green hops. There are fruity notes and citrusy notes in the nose but it doesn’t come across like fruit juice.
Taste follows the nose - with notes of citrus, lemon grass, dried grass, a light and fleeting dankness, and some light crackers malt notes. Feel is light and lively. Bright carbonation. Semi dry.
Overall a lovely IPA and an exemplar of the style.

It's not a perfect 5, Trevor, sorry. 667 is better, but this is a close 2nd. Fuck you for getting me hooked on craft beer. I would have been perfectly happy sipping Shiner and Lone Star the rest of my life, but you just HAD to make delicious fucking beer and get me hooked on hops.

Time and time again, I keep coming back to this IPA. Balanced just right with refreshing citrus and slight dank hop taste. I was able to taste fresh at the brewery and it was even better than imagined, a true top tier brew.

Yellow Rose is next on the review table. Served at 44 degrees in an IPA glass. My friend from Texas brought this beer up on her annual pilgrimage to Idaho. I have consumed the other five and waited to review this one. It was tempting to drink this crisp and refreshing classic IPA. Pouring the beer created a frothy and creamy three-fingered head with excellent retention. The slow dissipation left loads of lacing on the glass. The color is pale straw with light golden hues charting around SRM 4. The clarity is mostly clear, with a bit of haziness.
Nosing the glass, I smell the dewy grass, grapefruit, light pine resin, toasted crackers, oranges, honeysuckle, bay leaves, light earthiness, and a toasted bread crust.
The flavors are grapefruit, pine resins, dewy grass, toasted crackers, freshly baked bread, oranges, honeysuckle, bay leaves, light earthiness, and light pineapple note.
The mouthfeel is astringent and finishes powdery yet crisp.
A fantastic beer classic flavor for an IPA. My only complaint is the hops were more pronounced. I could knock several of these back on a summer night bullshitting.

From a 12oz can:
Appearance: Cloudy yellow, good head.
Smell: Starts a little danky, then moves to citrus rind.
Taste: Mild sweetness up front, then a combination of citrus and light berry flavor. Soft mouthfeel, finishes moderately bitter.
Overall: Picked this up in Texas, about 2 months old and not refrigerated at the store. A solid IPA, mild sweetness backed by a good bitterness in the finish.

12oz can served in a curvy Fremont glass. Dated 03/06/23. Got it in a trade with @MrSandman101. Arrived today, and arrived a bit battered, so might not be very settled.
Pours hazy, almost murky, amber yellow with a modest head of maybe a half centimeter that settles into a pattern that looks like wave ripples on a beach. Smell is tropical fruit and lots of citrus.
Taste is along those same lines -- nice, solid tropical fruit, some generic fruit rind (could be citrus, could be mango skin, could be...). Slowly get a build up of resinous bitterness. Nicely balanced between fruitiness and bitterness overall. Bitterness takes on more of a grapefruit rind character after several sips.
Mouthfeel is nice -- chewy without being heavy. Overall, this is a really nice beer. Fits into the category of "classics I'd never get tired of."

Good head production; OK retention. Body has a bit of chill haze to it, but it's by no means a hazy IPA.
Immediately smells like a throwback IPA: mild to moderate dankness, tons of resin, floral notes, touches of honey, pepper, and cracker; some mango, grapefruit, and lemon round out the profile. Mosaic is a near-perfect hop for a SMASH if you want to maintain complexity and nuance.
Moderate to high bitterness, but extremely drinkable; not particularly dry until the very finish, where it is semi-dry, at best, with some lingering citrus peel-like bitterness. Crushable. Tasting notes include melon, orange, grapefruit, resin, pale grains, dankness bordering on medium, crushed up flowers.

Poured into a pint glass at ~48F; pours hazy golden-yellow with an almost white head that reduces to a film, leaving speckles of lacing all around.
Smell is pine, citrus, and light bread with a hint of caramel sweetness
Taste smashes the taste buds with grapefruit, mango, tangerine, and more grapefruit. Piney-ness exists on the back-end. Bitter. Deliciously bitter. Finishes dry.
Mouthfeel is medium; carbonation is medium, both appropriate for the style. Alcohol is barely noticeable.
Overall, very nice brew from the Lone Pint Brewery in Magnolia, TX.
