Appearance: clear straw yellow
Smell: nice light grass hops
Taste: light hop presence up front with well balanced malt
Overall: solid beer, represents the style well. Prefer Czech pils to German as they showcase the hops much better IMHO, Czechvar is a good example of this. My only dislike is that it went flat fast. Maybe I was just drinking too slow (I know that's what you were thinking).

Today is 6th June 2014 and my bottle's best before date is 17th April 2015 so it is quite fresh.
I poured super aggressively as I have had this before and the head was non existent. This one had really decent lacing. The colour is a nice golden lager colour. The smell is pleasant but not strong. Grainy with a very subtle floral saaz hop note. This beer was a great change from Heineken and Carlsberg when it first came to England many years ago. Nowadays it's arguable that German Pilsners and some other Euro lagers that are widely available are as good if not better than this. It's quite good and quite enjoyable but not particularly special. An ok choice but I'd rather have Slovakia's Zlaty Bazant. Perla Cmielowa fron Poland and Ursus from Romania are both a bit more flavoursome.

My mark out of one hundred would be 77.

Served on-tap in a Shaker pint glass at Beer Run (Charlottesville, VA).

A: Clear straw-gold with thin cap of off-white small bubbled head with a small ridge of lacing at the top of the glass.

S: Slightly sulfuric with a reasonably clean lager nose with pilsner graininess and soft floral hops. Not as hoppy as many Bohemian pilsners.

T: THe flavor is middle of the road with a less crisp than expected pilsner grain flavor followed by floral and mildly spicy noble hopping. No yeast character and easy to drink, but a little dull.

M: A little flabby and not as crisp as it should be which makes the body seem more full than it should be as well. Carbonation is medium -- probably should be a little higher.

O: Kind of disappointing but still easy to drink, but nothing much to recommend it easier. DOesn't hold a candle to Pilsner Urquell.

500 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Purchased from LCBO for $2.40 CDN. re-reviewing as this was disappointing last time.

Appearance - Rich golden colored beer is poured. A nice 1.5 finger white head is poured but dissipates into wisps of foamy in a mere minute. Crystal clear with lots of bubbles rising to the top.

Smell - Grassy aromas with a slight grain mixture. A touch metallic too. Not a lot else here as is the case with many pilsners.

Taste - Well rounded with the grassy and grain flavors picked up in the nose, but finishes with a slightly bitter peppery jolt.

Mouthfeel - Nice lively carbonation. Medium light body and mouthfeel otherwise. Mouth is sufficiently coated, but remains refreshing as with most pilseners.

Overall - In my mind a good but not great pilsner. Definitely not preferred to Pilsner Urquell, but a satisfying beer that hits the spot in any situation.

Tasted On: 05-19-2014
Freshness: Best before 07-08-2014 (or is it 08-07-2014? crazy European dating...)
Packaging: 330ml green bottle, pry-cap with foil
Glassware: Pilsner glass
Purchased: Single from Pour Vous, Hendersonville, TN

A: Clear and fizzy yellow-colored beer with a white head 3 fingers high. Head retention is good, but there's no lacing to speak of.

S: Smells are first of hay-like, grassy hops, then a note of lemongrass aroma is noted, and lastly some spiciness that reminds me a little bit of rye.

T: The taste is sweet, with grain/malt leanings, in addition to lemon/citrus flavors. Only a light bitterness. Also has a spiced character.

M: Seems fairly high in carbonation. The light-bodied beer finishes with the citrus and lemon flavors noted before.

O: Overall a good beer. I'd say this is a great selection for hot weather days and would also be great for washing down a meal.
