Went here because they had a crazy beer in a firken. We had visited the other Republic and were very impressed, so we figured this was worth a visit. A disclaimer is that, although it has the same name and owners, this is VERY different from the other Republic. It’s in a mall and it has a very different crowd (not in a good way). Anyways, the firken beer was amazing. The second beer we ordered was great. The bartender was SLAMMED, and, even though he was nice, he couldn’t say more than "what do you want" without falling behind due to lack of a barback. We then got an infected beer. It was so bad I almost spit it back up on the bar. We let the bartender know, and he took a sip of a sample and told us "that is how it is supposed to taste". It was f*cking terrible. We tried the same beer the next day at a different bar and it was definitely much better. Check your tap lines and your staffing schedule guys. This is a definite SKIP if you're just visiting town.

Stopped here early on a Friday afternoon with my wife for some beers. Upon arrival, we seated ourselves at a window table overlooking Lake and Hennepin. Perfect spot to people watch from above. Our table was wobbly which sucked. Real fun trying not to touch the table to avoid spilling beer the whole time. An issue that should easily be corrected, but not a huge deal.
Large bar with ample table and booth seating throughout, lots of windows. The tap selection is wonderful with some high quality beers to be had. Oak aged Yeti, Breakfast Stout, Dragon's Milk, Hopslam and many local beers representing most Minneapolis breweries. Something for everyone and their flights of three 8 oz. pours for $10 is an amazing deal. This included every beer on the menu. Did not try the food.
The biggest problem we had was the service. The bar was nearly empty when we got there and I bet we still waited a solid 5-10 minutes for someone to bring us a beer menu. We each got a flight of three and as we worked our way through them, we were only checked on once or twice. It got to the point where my beer was completely gone, my wife nearly had hers gone and both of our waters were completely empty. We were not checked on to see if we wanted anything more or our check for at least a half an hour. Mind you it was now busier, but there was also more staff on hand now too. Completely unacceptable.
Other than the service, everything was wonderful. I will go back, but another lapse in service would be a deal breaker for me.
