Cracked the can and immediately got a nice whiff of tropical hops. Pours dense hazy with smaller head that leaves lace. Nose is dank overripe melon, confectionary sugar, and garlic. Taste is a blast of apricot, confectionary sugar, and orange rind with more resin in the finish. Not sure what some of the lower ratings are from here...maybe old stuff? This is a great beer.

16 oz can. Pours murky pale yellow with a thin white head. Slight citrus aroma. Layers of hops. Not as hoppy as most double IPAs. But a long dry pine finish.

Canned 11/3/15; drank 1/2/16 @ the Yarchives.
See-through dark orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big eggshell head; strong, frothy lace.
Sweet caramel, grapefruit & brown sugar notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
A cloying mix of caramel & raspberry flavors; no booze heat. Drinkable but not very good.

Superb head that settles in a rocky fashion. Two chunky rings of lace after the first two sips. Copper to amber color and nearly clear liquid.
Very earthy initial aroma--it literally smells like dirt. Behind this dominant smell, I do get some light caramel and biscuity notes. The hop, outside of the earthiness, is nearly non-existent.
This is an interesting brew. The upfront taste is mildly sweet, full bodied, and reminiscent of a double bock...complete with alcohol notes and subtle barley wine touches. The swallow draws out the carbonation, bittering hop and a strong warming to the throat. This is like a schizophrenic beer, a two-fer. Typically, I love these unique little offerings, but something about this beer just doesn't quite work. I think it comes from the strength of the flavors. This is a big beer(s) with no effort to bring the two aspects together. In musical terms, this beer is not a symphony, but more like an eclectic jam session with Jimi Hendrix and Arthur Fiedler headlining (younger BA members may have to look both of those dudes up). Very interesting, but not necessary creating a masterpiece...and yet it seems so close.

I am noodling around with New Beer Sunday (Week 596) & thus far, it has been a steady diet of DIPAs! Now, they are laying an ICBM in on my a**! Take cover! Incoming! Plus, I get the photo credit.
From the CAN: "We took our Missile IPA and turned it up to 11. A double load of hops lends intoxicating citrus aromatics to slight malt sweetness for an explosive Ameri[CAN] Double IPA."
I was a little CANcerned by some of the previous CANments that mentioned any haziness, so following the Crack!, I performed a very gentle Glug. It was a brimful craft CAN anyway, so I was reluctant to do an inverted Glug. I briefly got just over a finger of soapy, tawny head that quickly settled into wisps. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled strongly of pine tar & caramel, so I knew what I was in for! Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite big, but on the approach. Man, it burnt on my poor, bruised tongue like it was being applied with a blowtorch! Holy s**t! My forehead beaded up with sweat, my solar panel for my sex machine on the crown of my head broke out in sweat & I reached for my asthma inhaler. Jeez-O, man! The taste was like licking sap off of a pine tree coated in caramel. As a hophead, I was right at home, but this was sending me to an early grave! Finish was gaspingly dry with a lingering burn of pine tar & some grapefruit action that was really causing the sweat to pop. Eeek!

Look is light auburn or burnt orange, thin head. Smells of caramel and hop resin, it's muted but hints of pine, very underwhelming. Taste is boozy, sweet stickiness. I'm not impressed

A. Deep orange with a big two finger soapy white head medium lacing.
S. Aroma Is really off, sweet malt caramel, old hop resin, raisin, diacetyl, just gross.
T. Boozy malty sweetness, caramel, dirty old gross hops, diacetyl, disgusting.
MM. Chewy sticky nasty, your mouth feels dirty over this.
O. I expect of the worst ipas ive had in a long time, malt bomb mess
