Great blonde ale....small nose, but does that even matter?

Pale with no head. No detectable smell. Light malts and wheat that are pleasant but boring. Light body and light carbonation. It's a bit light and watery for a blonde but is very smooth. It looks and feels like a light beer, but tastes like a blonde.
I finished it but I wouldn't have it again.

On tap at BJ’s in Allen, Texas. The beer pours a clear, light yellow color with a white head. The aroma is fairly heavy on the wheat and biscuit malt. The flavor is more of the same, with the addition of a little bit of grass from the hops. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not a bad beer, but nothing too exciting.

pint glass was full. almost no head with little retention. sparse carbonation. a little lacing down the glass. tastes light. i am thinking that this batch is not the freshest because it seemed too flat and bland to me. not a bad brew but not as good as bj's usually is.

try the pils instead.

suckem up and movem out.

Came out a very clear gold with a tiny white head and lots of visible carbonation--the mouthfeel is unsurprisingly quite light and fizzy. The smell is quite sweet and citrusy, and the taste has wheat, apple, and just a little hint of soap. It's okay. Not a great Kölsch, but did go nicely with my pasta.

Appearance - This was a putrid-looking light orange in color with no head from a horrible pour by the bartender.

Smell - This smells like rotten grain.

Taste - The rotten grain turns to moldy ashtray at the taste.

Mouthfeel - This is light-bodied without any sort of crispness at the end.

Sinkability - Rarely do I send back a beer at a pub, but when I called the waitress over and apologized profusely she just waved her hand and shook her head and said, "Don't worry, people send back beer here all the time." Hahahaha!

As part of a sample flight in BJ's Daytona.

Sight - very pale, heavily carbonated, thin white head
Smell - very fruity, apples, pear drops
Taste - quite malty, again fruity and sweet though nicely balanced.
Sweet - 2/5
Bitter - 2/5

A smooth interpretation of the Kolsch style, though nobody does it like the Germans. This was easy drinking, refreshing on a hot day at the beach - you can't ask for much more really.

14 oz pseudo pint brought to the table a bit too full. Clear, medium gold color with a light sheen of white foam and a few pieces of clingy lace.

Smell is very light...lemmie shove my nose in here...hmmm, not a whole lot. Some grainy malt along with a distinctive earthy contribution, maybe some special B? Hints of light fruit and bready yeast. Not bad.

Nothing really screams Kolsch about this beer, but it is not a half-bad drinker. Light and freshly crushed grains with a full bready character. Decent floral hop finish cleans it up nicely. Decently full body for the style and creamy enough mouthfeel. Seems to be missing alot of the distinctive kolsch yeast profile that is found in some of the best. A good beer though, and more interesting than your typical 'blonde' ale.

Had this on tap in the Machine Room at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. The aroma was one of the worst I've ever encountered... something along the lines of wet moldy rice/corn. The taste was almost as bad: it was harsh going down with an even worse aftertaste. I had this alongside two other BJ's beers, and the Blonde was the worst (the Red was a little better and the Brunette was far superior to both).

This is obviously the beer the waitress recommends for those customers who ask if they have anything like a Bud or Coors light. Very light beer. Pours clear yellow with a medium white head. Metallic, sweet and malty, but not memorable. Seems out of place with everything else BJ's serves.

Sampled this one on 4/23/08. Golden colored, thin head, minimal lacing, and pretty much a middle of the road pale beer. Slightly sweet tasting, mild hops, and a bit grainy. Overall a little watery. Very easy drinking and refreshing but really there's not much to it.

Had in Mcallen, TX. Reviewing these beers has become cumbersome and I have no idea where to put this.

I received my beer with no head and was barely able to generate anything. It had aa clear yellow color.

The smell was of pale malt and lemon grass. It was faint at first, but as the beer warmed it came together with a nice citrusy undertone.

The taste is clean. Pale malts mix with some flavors of lemon grass with some citrusy undertones. Hop bitterness is very low and this beer is pretty simple. It's a good crossover beer for those getting into craft beer and something nice to quench one's thirst during the summer time.

The mouthfeel is crisp and clean. It is sort of spritzy and seltzery at first, but as the beer warmed it settled down.

This beer was served too cold, but as it warmed up it became a decent lawnmower beer. I would reach for one of these to quench my thirst in the summertime.

No me gusta.

Pours a sickly yellow color with an inch or so white head that quickly disippated. For a microbrew, this tastes suspiciously like a thin, watery, canned monstrosity. Maybe a bit of hops ... some skunky malt. Thin and watery. BJs isn't a masterpiece of microbrewing, but I expect more than this.

Avoid.

Sample at the Columbus location. This beer is a clear yellow/gold color with a thin white head that dissipates pretty quickly. Thin spotty lacing. Mildly hoppy and sweet aroma. Light-bodied and bubbly with a lightly hopped flavor with notes of straw. There is an underlying sweetness as well. The finish is light hops and grain, without much aftertaste. Overall this is pretty much par for the course on "starter" beers at brewpubs like this.

Brought a growler home from Laguna Beach location

Very light and easy to drink with not much taste

Reminds me a lot of Beach Bum Blonde

Would be a good with one of thewir pizzas, preferably one with their blackened chicken

Too bland for me, but very popular among others

Had on tap at BJ's pub/restaurant in Polaris (Columbus, OH). I heard they ship it from AZ since they don't have a brewing license here.

Kolsch is almost too delicate to rate reliably. This one was OK in every aspect, subtle funk in the aroma, slightly bitter in flavor, mostly neutral overall for a clean fresh taste. Easily poundable. I'd choose this again if I need something on the low end alcohol-wise.

A: nice golden color with a little pale white head. bubbles rising continuously.
S: smelled malty, maybe a little grassy. smelled pretty good, actually.
T: the light malty sweetness was good, but the small amount of hops in the beer was absolutely horrible and ruined the taste. it had a slightly musty/moldy hoppy taste that made a good beer bad.
M: good. light with plenty of carbonation. this is how a blonde should be.
D: maybe I just got into a bad batch, maybe I will give it another chance in the future..

This sits a brilliantly clear, gold color with a wisp of a pale white head. The aroma is thin and grainy with a hint of grassy hops thrown in to the mix. The taste is pretty dry up front, but also has a nice clean grain character to it up front. It moves to an astringent thin grainy finish though. There is a fair amount of bitterness here as well, which I was not expecting, it is nice though and helps finish this off with a clean crisp bite; it has a light, spicy hop flavor as well. Overall this is a decent drinking beer, the unexpected bitterness coupled with the clean malt character up front give me more enjoyment than I was anticipating.

Sampled on tap at the Las Vegas (Summerlin) location, but brewed in Chandler, Arizona.

Poured a clear, light yellow color with white foam that settled, leaving a bit of lace, and with a good, steady stream of fine bubbles from the bottom of the glass. The smell was lightly malty. The taste was lightly malty with a bit of biscuit and very light hops. The mouthfeel was smooth and relatively clean with light body and moderate carbonation. This was a light, easy drinking kolsch.
