500ml Bottle
$1.99
Binny's Willowbrook

Hirter's Morchl dumps into the glass with a handsome chestnut brown body while garnet highlights flash through when backlit. Clarity is good and carbonation runs through the entire body. A microbubbled beige head sits atop the body with a respectable cap and some stick. Lacing cakes the glass as I drink.

A deep rich toastiness permeates the entire body. Notes of soft caramel, vanilla, cream and even faint black cherries bring about an even keeled nose. Munich malt is the highlight of this beer and it's expertly utilized.

Again, the Munich malt rushes over the tastesbuds and remain after the swallow. Smooth, rich toast and caramel lead the way. The melange of black cherry, cream, and vanilla are all mild and well integrated but certainly there and together making up a decent portion of the flavor profile. The swallow leaves behind some floral hoppiness. All flavors are clean.

Morchl is a medium bodied beer with snappy carbonation. The finish is amazingly dry and appropriate leaving behind zero saliva. This is a super fresh bottle as even the bitterness grows, even though never beyond mild.

I drink this beer often on draft but I believe this is the first bottle I've ever had. It's a really enjoyable, drinkable, and affordable import. The flavor profile shows a ton of depth while staying easy drinking and fairly light. Many 1/2 liters of this has, could, and will be had by me in the future.

Poured from a 16.9 oz. bottle into a 16 0z. glass goblet.
Pours a clear, deep brown with a yellowish-tan head that dissipates quickly, leaving little lacing. Lots of things going on in the aroma, especially as it warms a bit. Bready Munich malt, chocolate, molasses, nutty and a strong sweet smell. Taste: The first thing that comes to mind is that this is not a Munich Dunkel style. There’s some rye malt character there with a weaker hop profile, much like a Euro Dark Lager. Whether it fits the Munich Dunkel taste profile exactly or not, this is a great beer, in my opinion! Grainy, bready flavors with hints of dark chocolate, brown sugar and ripe fruity flavors. Medium bodied with a light-to-medium carbonation level, making it silky smooth. No alcohol warmth detected. Paired very nicely with the warm, buttered pumpernickel I had with it. Overall, this was a great beer for a great price! I paid $2.39 for a single 16.9 oz. bottle. I will definitely grab this one again.

Poured from a 16.9 oz bottle into a glass.

A: A nice dark brown color with a thick head, very nice appearance

S: Predominantly roasted malt, maybe a hint a caramel, standard dunkel smell

T: A nice rich, but not overpowering taste. Not as smooth as I would have hoped though.

M: Set well on the tongue

O: Just an average dunkel beer, but for a price of just over $2, I would say it met my expectations, though I won't be rushing out to get it again as there are a lot of other dunkel beers I would rather have and pay more for.
