330ml bottle, part of a 'Best of Bock' selection of Austrian beer now available in Alberta. Best before June 2012 - that's summer 'round here, so I ain't waiting 'til then.
This beer pours a clear, kind of glassy, pale golden amber hue, with a measly half finger of almost foamy white head, which unsurprisingly bolts in mere moments, leaving a few appropriate specks of RNA lace around the glass. Onwards.
It smells of grainy cereal malt, some edgy phenolic character, bordering on nail polish remover, mild generic orchard fruit, and almost invisible noble hops. The taste is semi-sweet grainy malt - some barley, some corn, maybe even some rice - amongst a swirling, thankfully understated booziness, and an earthy, dead leaf hoppiness. Complexity, why have thou-est forsaken me?
The bubbles are fairly inert, the body a medium-light weight, and gratingly smooth. It finishes sweet, boozy, and multivaryingly grainy.
Another boozed-up Euro-lager, with little regard to balance - too much booze and sweetness to really take all that seriously. It's not that cold out - maybe the importers of this Box o' fun should have considered that.

Found at the Julius Meinl grocery store in the very heart of Vienna, it comes in a standard brown half liter bottle with a multi-colored label and gold foil around the neck. The label shows nothing but the name printed on parchment. No ingredient info. Best before 6/30/08, I opened it on 1/20/08.
Pours a clear straw gold under a two finger white head with some big bubbles that reveal an impressive contour as the head fades a bit too quickly to film and collar, leaving just a few strings of lace. The nose features sweet corn and straw, with a hint of raspberry. It could be stronger. The mouth is a bit sticky and heavy, with substantial carbonations. There is lots of sweet bready malt with a touch of hay in the opening. A dry crisp espresso bitter emerges on the swallow and lasts long after the liquid is gone. Overall, a bit harsh, a bit edgy and definitely strong. A good rendition of the style, but you need to like the style.

330ml bottle poured into tulip 18/5/12
A clear golden yellow but she looks a little flat, somehow there's a solid thumbs width of foam that sits for a minuet leaving random polka dot lace
S sweet corn, slightly fruity, with some faint floral hops
T what I smell but with a solvent chemical thing going on, not unbearable but not desired either
M medium bodied with more bubbles then I would guess after looking at it, the 7% is fairly well hidden
O hard to love a beer if it tastes a little less then average, drinkable but not overly enjoyable
yet another underwhelming beer from my mixed bock box, I was hoping for Celebrators but I'm getting Colt 45's, OK there not bad but 40$ for 9 brews... piss off
