Treated as an imperial red ale, this was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a semi-dark red almost brown sort of color with a nice looking sustaining finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice even pace. Messy foamy lace. The aroma had a nice earthiness intermingling with some nuts, roasty and sweet, good amount of grassy and citrusy hops showing some bitterness. Clean caramel/toffee malts underneath. The flavor yields to a smooth sweet maltiness foremost and then blends the earthiness, nuts, toast and the hops. Nice clean malty smooth aftertaste rolling into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionably smooth to almost smooth sipping quality about it. Good sturdy carbonation was felt. ABV felt good too. Overall, nicely balanced imperial red ale well worthy of having again.

Light brown color; clear. Small head but it leaves ample near-blanket of lace.
Flowery hop forward smell. Deeply toasted caramel malt aroma.
Think highly hopped darker amber ale. Strong brown ale notes initially -- roasted malt and dry caramel. The white pepper hop comes in quickly and dominates the rest of the tasting. Long bitter aftertaste. High carbonation with a moderate body.

22oz bomber purchased down the road in Derry, NH. Dark amber-red color, good head. Smells malty. Flavor is malty, bitter but also a little too sweet. not to my taste.

This was a test version. They are trying to tweak the formula for this beer. It was enjoyable in the variation I tried.
