From the 650 ml bottle dated 8/24/13. Sampled on May 31, 2014. I can buy this fresher than that but I picked it up off a clearance rack.

The pour is a murky looking copper color with a modest off-white head that leaves lacing along the way.

The aroma is less grainy and more malty but that could well be due to the age of this bottle. Yeasty even. Sweet caramel malts.

The body is actually rather nice in the medium range.

The taste is sweet and malty rather that rye-like and grainy. Again, the bottle is 10 months old and this is a style hat should be consumed fresh. It had some nice elements to it but next time I will try a fresher bottle.

I would revisit this ale more often if not for the hefty price tag, given its " slightly above okayness." If the price point dropped, it might be more of a staple in my household. I think I paid nearly $9.00 for 24 oz. bottle. Living in New Hampshire, however, I will do my best to support this local brew, just not with any great frequency.

Light orange color with a quickly dissipating head with little lacing
Smell is a bit sweet and yeasty
Taste starts sweet and transforms to a strong bitter, almost like an IPA without the citrus. Lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel is good with a bit of carbonation
Overall it would be good on a hot summer day, if I was looking for something more than a pale ale but less than an IPA.

Poured from a bomber, bottle date 7-14-13, and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a bright, golden-copper coloring with a steady, solid flow of carbonation and a frothy, light, bright white head that starts a solid inch and slowly settles into a thin surface coat. Aromas of toasted grains, with a bitterness and slightly dusty/musty character found in some Ryes. Slightly sweet and bready backbone in the nose, also. The flavors are tangy and roasty on the forward tongue, providing a unique dynamic. Grain character wins out, with a slightly sweet highlight of butter and caramel dancing throughout the palate. Subtle citrus highlights are there, as well, helping to bring a sweet, slightly fruity build to the end of the palate. The body is smooth, mid-range, and full. Everything is kept light by the carbonation, providing an effervescence to the tangy, slightly tropical, grainy aftertaste. The finish is frothy, with a tangy linger. Tasty beer, and very easy to drink.

States to be an IPA. Not a traditional American IPA for sure. No real hop signature. Tastes of weak tea. Shame really. Appearance was promising. Nice copper color with a head that sustains while drinking. Mouthfeel is a bit murky, smooth enough but not enjoyable.

Bottle from Bert's
Pours a slightly hazy dull golden color with a decent sized dirty white head that shows moderate retention and lacing. Smells of sweet bread and light stone fruit with a hint of candy sugar, and a touch of spicy tartness. The flavor is lightly sweet with a nice light fruity sweetness that is offset with some spicy tartness and a hint of yeastiness. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet tart mouthfeel. I took this straight out of the fridge and poured it on this 85 degree humid day and it went down very quickly. Nice light easily approachable ale.

Had at a 603 tasting. Appears to be a light golden, almost orange color. Head was white and thin. Smell is strongly rye and hops with slight hints of earth tones. Taste is pretty average, strong rye, average hopiness with grassy and earthy tastes. Somewhat bitter for the style. Nothing about this beer is exceptional, just a average brew, not real weaknesses or strengths.

A-slightly hazy golden color with a decent white head and some lacing

S-bread dough, caramel, earthy, light rye spice

T-tropical fruit, rye, bready malt, earthy, caramel, mild bitter finish

F-medium body with moderate carbonation, smooth

O-easy drinking ale, didn't get as much rye as I expected, but enjoyable nonetheless
