Two Roads Henry's Farm

On tap poured into can glass

A: creamy slightly tan head deep brown body fairly good clarity just can't see through it because of color body has no haze

S: lots of raisins and some figs a little burnt sugar

T: burnt sugars dates raisins not too sweet some deep doughy bready notes on the end

M: light to medium not too thick and a little watery

O: disappointing hardly any barrel character I would never guess this was barrel aged flavors are muted and muddled this isn't even a good doppelbock

an awesome take on this style, aged in rye whiskey barrels on tap and falling rock, who can really pull some good stuff obviously. its deep dark brown with a crimson hue in the right light, and almost an inch of permanent dense frothy tan head with pockets of airy bubbles bursting at the surface. it smells great too, the rye whiskey is there right away, a little hot and a little sweet, with raisin and plum notes, and a lot of dark german malts. the flavor is a lot like the nose, maybe a little less developed on the oak side of things and on the dried fruit, but the grain is awesome and full bodied, deeply roasted, and has hints of smoke and brown sugar. the whiskey interweaves really nicely here. not readily obvious that its a lager. i dont get a ton of the bready german characteristic i usually find in the style, and its not as dry, probably owing to the barrel. rye is a nice touch too, less vanilla more spice, more grain depth, i love it. smooth and rich feeling, but not too sweet. frothy and palate coating, about as perfect a fall beer as i can think of. i wish their stuff came around a little more often, this is rock solid!

Had on draft last. Overall, quite a nice doppelbock. Not many craft breweries are experimenting with this style, but I am happy I had the opportunity to try this one.

Nice, caramel, toffee like base flavors, with a hint of smokiness and vanilla. Smooth, sweet, and sippable. Carbonation was appreciably low.

Contrary to some other reviewers, I thought that this beer only had a subtle barrel/ whiskey influence. Not too much for my tastes at all.

Poured from a tap into a pint glass. Dark brown with two fingers of head. Very aromatic and woodsy. Strong barrel wood smell. Burnt toffee and stale whiskey in the taste. Interesting robust flavor but way too much oak/wood in the taste. Not balanced, but a lot of flavor going on.
