Appearance - The beer was a little lighter than most DIPAs. On the initial pour, there was a massive white head, which left white lacing along the sides of the glass.

Smell - The aroma was largely that of fresh cut grass. It leaned more toward sweet than resiny.

Taste - My initial reaction was that this is far too sweet for a DIPA. The taste begins with big notes of sweet malt. Then the hops make their presence felt. The hops are not overwhelming, but quite noticeable. The hops would best be described as lemon , leaning toward lemon rind. For a DIPA, the taste finishes rather light, almost apologizing for trying to be potent.

Mouthfeel -The DIPA has a mouthfeel that is more emblematic of a single IPA, not a DIPA. In other words, it is noticeably thin.

Overall - I tried it. I probably don't need to try it again. It is a low-average DIPA.

From a small grower I filled from a fresh and local keg a few hours ago....

Pours hazed almond amber, sturdy light tan head, stays forever and leaves rich sheeting and fields of frothy stick.

Resin, pine, leafy hops on the nose

Citric hops in place, plentiful grapefruit, lime, and pepper, over a base flavor profile of resiny and quite dry hops. Rich layers of hoppy goodness. This is a very solid DIPA. Nice to try a brew from one of Connicticut's newer breweries.

Had on tap at their tasting room.

Appearance: One inch head, amber in color, clear, low carbonation

Smell: citrus hops and toasted malt

Taste: sweet biscuit and caramel start, citrus hops dominate the middle with piney hops jumping in at the end.

Mouthfeel: sweet start with a bitter middle and a less bitter end, light bodied, medium, carbonation

Overall:This one packs a punch. A solid double IPA. I kind of see Troeg's Nugget Nectar as comparable to this although it has been several months since I last had one. This is a good a juicy double IPA. I would get this again.

Clear apricot colored with an inch high head of rocky beige foam that leaves craters and lingers long. Inviting aroma of tangerine and red grapefruit, slight orange rind note. Bright flavor of citrusy hops, orange rind pith, tangerine, and pine. Great citrusy hops flavors all around. Moderate to sharp bitterness, good balance to the honied malt flavors riding beneath, but make no mistake - this one's all about the hops. Moderate mouthfeel, slightly dry, piney finish. Great beer.

This was a total surprise. We had just brought this beer along with a few others from Two Roads.
I really didnt know what to expect. It was really nice to see we are making better and better beers in Connecticut.

I had this beer at the start of Super Bowl 45. The pour was somewhat of a dirty amber. Didn't look real clean, but there was nothing foggy about it. Just to me, the color was strange.

The aroma was so very nice. Boy, do I love to put my nose inside a glass of super IBU IPAs.

At the first sip, my nose didn; let down my palate. This beer had all the typical bouquets of a fresh IPA, the citrus, grapefruit and perhaps apple/melon. Once the beer hit my tongue it started to bounce around my mouth. Sort of my built in reaction to hoppy beers. It was close to a perfect nose/taste that I've had, especially in a beer I really didnt know about.

The after taste was just as rewarding as the first taste. My bomber size of Road 2 Ruin was finished almost before the Ravens built up a strong lead.

A gem in CT

A - Beautiful orange color; pulpy. About a 1 1/2 finger head, decent perseverance, nice lacing.

S - Sweet grapefruit and mango. Citrus. Fairly subdued; bright, but not overly powerful.

T - Bitter, citrus peel, very hoppy aftertaste, with caramel malt coming in last.

M - Very dry aftertaste. Very smooth body, however; medium-light mouthfeel overall.

O - This isn't a bad IPA, but it's a little boring for a DIPA. I really would put it more on par with an average IPA. I'd drink it again, but it's nothing special.
