American Double / Imperial IPA |  8.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
A big, hoppy IPA with plenty of bite! Our assertive, hop-centric Double IPA has a lean malt backdrop and is brewed with four American hop varieties – Summit, Palisade, Cascade and Magnum. Piney, citrus, floral, not-for-the-timid!

Never seen this guys before, figured I'd give it a try. 12.99 a six pack.

More of a 1.5 IPA than a double ipa.

Its pretty classic northwest hops I get. Some pinecones, some grapefruit. Probably a lot of the C hops. Aroma is strong but not particularly interesting. Some earthy dank, spiceness too. Legit malt backbone makes this a little syrupy and rich. Its packs a decent flavor, but its rather run of the mill. For that type I'd rather a Larry IPA, theres better deals out there. Its not bad, but very run of the mill.

A: The beer is very hazy dark yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down rather quickly, leaving a lacy webbing of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of floral and grassy hops are present in the nose along with some hints of apricots.
T: The taste mostly follows the smell and also has notes of tangerines. The hops contribute a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied and relatively crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This Double IPA doesn't seem to have nearly as strong as a malt backbone compared to other beers in the style, but it has an interesting mix of aromas and flavors from the hops and the lighter body nature of this beer makes it rather easy to drink.
