Traditional in concept with a Two Roads twist…dry hops. We use a combination of classic German as well as American hop and malt varieties in our Pils. We renovated a 100 year-old factory building and designed this Pils to have “extra” aroma…so, pardon the pun! Crisp…refreshing…refined.

I belted down about 5 of these at a wedding in Irvington NY on April 2nd 2023. Appropriate name for the location since the Hudson Loft looked like a refurbished old factory complete with a freight elevator for the guests. I had these straight from 12 oz bottles so the appearance was not measurable. Aroma and tasted featured light bready malt and some lemon and a little honey sweetness. Very pleasant (obviously since I had 5 of them). Mouthfeel was light and crisp with a hint of bitterness. A good session beer!!!

One of four styles in a $20 sampler case.
Pours well enough. Pils look, certainly. Nice color, tons of foam for the foam people.
Hop forward smell. A Pils can goin a few directions. This isn’t the one I prefer. A bit of lemon freshness. The kinda cracker and malt aroma I dig in a good Pils is almost undetectable.
Taste offers a little something more. A bit of spice and bread. Still very hoppy. If hops aren’t used subtly, for me, they just dominate the flavor. Not being a fan of bitter beer, I don’t know how to distinguish between them for the most part.
It is crisp as it should be. Not awful, just not for me.

Lovely beer: straw gold with excellent head production, retention, and lacing. A touch cloudy, but that could be due to chill.

Very pleasant aroma, featuring lemon prominently, along with light bread and flowers. A touch of orange marmalade as well.

On the verge of an IPL. Quite hoppy, with a strong lemon presence, along with notes of grass, straw, and light cracker. Not much to the malt base, but overall, quite pleasant to drink.

Golden with a little bit of chill haze from the dry hopping, thick, dense white head, excellent retention and lacing
Honeyed bread malt and a bit of floral/herbal hop aroma
Tastes like it smells, plus a bit of spiciness
Crisp, light bodied, appropriate carbonation
I like it

This one is from some notes I wrote.

Appearance: One finger of head with some lacing but no retention. Body is a cloudy, low carb brass color.

Smell: Floral Citrus Hops with notes of lemon and a faint whiff of orchids. Potency however isn't the greatest and warming did not help matters.

Taste: Starts with bready malt with a hint of lemon that turns to a citrus rush of orange and lemon before rounding out with a nice floral hop note.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and clean like a Pilsner should be, and the mild floral aftertaste is wonderful. Carbonation is surprisingly on point, given you don't see it in the body. Transition is solid, but it doesn't exactly make a long journey, which is really the biggest complaint here.

Drinkability: Crisp in extreme, refreshing and easy on the system. Light bodied without sacrificing flavour to keep itself interesting. My only complaint here is that it's a bit basic, but it's an all around solid pilsner that drinks like one.

Final Thoughts: I've heard that some during their beer travels begin to appreciate the crispness of a beer as time goes on, and if so, this one excels in that regard. My complaints about it really only stem from that it doesn't seem to be a boquet of an offering. Still, if you want a simple, easy drinking pilsner without a lot of bell and whistles, this is the offering for you.

Bottle.

A clear yellow orange with a dense white head with good retention and lacing this looks good. The nose is very hoppy. Very, very hoppy with plenty of dry hop character, there's mint, lemon, musk, and earth. The musk is particularly strong. A mild grainy sweetness is present as well. The palate opens hoppy with a lemony, earthy, dusty and mildly musky character. A mild sweetness is present. Clean, the mouthfeel is a little watery, and the carbonation is a little lighter than I was expecting. A touch of skunk as well.

God this beer is disappointing. I really want to love Two Roads but man does this beer fall short. Much better German Pilsners out there in CT. Falls under the same problem as their "No Limits" Hefe- oddly flavorless, at least compared to other variants in the area.
