Very interesting beer. Pours out a dark, reddish brown with a creamy white head. Really nice malt driven aroma with some raisins and toffee coming through.
Taste is much bigger than the nose. Candi sugar sweetness balances with a solid malt backbone. Alcohol does slightly come through but helps balance it out. Big toffee flavor with a raisin note that lingures for awhile.
Overall a solid and fun offering. ABV is high so be warned.

Had on tap at the brewery
Appearance: 1/4 inch head, low carbonation, red-brown in color, clear
Smell: toasted malt, caramel, and grain
Taste: caramel, grain and a big dose of butter cracker
Mouthfeel: light body for the style, sweet, low carbonation
Overall: A very solid, buttery and malty beverage. The booze on this one hits quick. I would get this again if it was on tap.

Bottled on 2/20/13
Clear copper colored with a beige head of thick foam that slowly settles out. Low aroma of toasted malt and fig.
Rich and malty flavor, subtle sweetness, offset with noticeable bitterness, but well-balanced. Flavors of toasted malt, fig, toffee, and a hint of leather.
Even mouthfeel, full and smooth, finishes tingly. Good representation of the style.

This one poured an mediocre amber with very little head There was not much of any detectable nose except for the presence of malt.
The initial taste was a bit flat, but no question about this one was malt heavy.
This one was big and soft with a malty aftertaste.
Doblebocks are just not my favorite style..

Pours a honey brown color , a bit murky. The head is small and wispy, settles into a sparse cap.
The aroma is a touch doughy and meaty. Hints of smoke. Nice bock aroma. Simple but hits the mark.
The taste is of a slightly toasted malt with a hint of the doughy Munich malt. Light caramel and pepper. Some tea like notes. Lager like notes but lacking the double bock bang.
The feel is moderate with fizzy carbonation. Sweet on the palate but it's light and has enough of a bitter offset.
Slightly disappointed with this beer. Started off well but needs more of a beefy flavor.

Don't remember much when I had this at the two roads dinner at Cask Republic, but it was the best out of all! Wish I wasn't as drunk to give a better description! All I remember saying was this is the best one! This is the best! Hopefully will get to try again very soon!!!

I sampled a cellar temp bottle of this brew poured into a mug. The beer poured a rich mahogany color with garnet highlights. Very little beige head foamed up and faded quickly to nothing.
Aroma is caramel and toffee with some light brown sugar and general sweetness. Not getting too much hop character here.
First sip reveals a clean and straightforward beer, texture is slightly sticky and thick with gentle rolling carbonation.
I dont get any hops on the flavor really, maybe a little bit of an earthy finish each sip, but this is a malt forward brew. The ABV is well hidden and I finish the bottle fairly quickly for a bomber.
I enjoy this beer as a malt lover and found it to have no flaws for the style. Well done beer!
