12oz brown bottle with a freshness date.

This beer has the best aftertaste of any pumpkin beer I have tried, level spicing and barrel aging did the trick here. Seriously, Roadsmany's Baby is fun to drink let alone the name which is a hoot. This beer is not just for Halloween, if you can still grab a bottle or few save it for early winter.

LOOK: Nice froth, elegant lacing, hazed dark chestnut hue

SMELL: Well rounded; spice, toasted grain, malty, subtle alcohol, wood, brown sugar, pumpkin, cinnamon

TASTE: Incredibly smooth, dried grassy, toasted bread crust, pie spice, pumpkin flesh, mild wood tannin, kiss of alcohol, earthy, drying tannic wood finish

Very good pumpkin beer that manages to have a unique taste in the myriad of pumpkin beers I have tried. Pumpkin spice is there and so is the pie crust. The oaking is subtle until the beer warms. It adds a nice dry flavor to a tasty beer.

Dark caramel colored with a beige head that settles out slowly and leaves a low fine cap of wispy bubbles. Aroma of faint vegetal notes, some cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg.

Squashy flavor upfront, followed quickly by malty goodness, then some spices, and then a wash of vanilla. Vanilla extract and spikey nutmeg emerge in the finish, which detracts from the overall.

Good mouthfeel, round and creamy. Not a bad beer overall, but the vanilla finish detracts.

CT beer run pickup of single bottle. Poured into a pint glass. 10/26

Pours darker brown, right on the cusp of being black. Bubbly white foam. Sweeter malt nose, cinnamon, nutmeg. Spiced rum nose. Taste is a strong pumpkin malt, but interupted by a rum coconut flavor. Vanilla pokes through as well. Lots happening here. Interesting for sure, give credit for the creativity.

Purchased as a single, warm. Served from a bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled 8/21/2013. Always good to see bottle dating!

a: Looks like a flat Dr. Pepper. A deep burnt red, more amber around the glass edges Hard to see through the middle of the glass. Poured with a half inch head that quickly dissipated. Lacing as I drink it.

S: Mostly Spices and a little malt. Not a lot of rum. No pumpkin.

T: A lot of spices. Can't nail it but clove, cardamon, nutmeg. Not a lot of cinnamon or rum in the taste. More pumpkin as it warms up. Tastes more like a winter seasonal than a fall one. You don't taste the 6.8%.

M: carbonated, moderate mouth feel, gets creamier as it warms up.

O: I am glad I tried it. I want to see Two Roads succeed but sometimes I wish it were NEBCO that had the largest brewery in CT. I wouldn't allocate a part of my budget to this.

A: Deep amber with a short head that fades away to a slight topping

S: Not a lot on the nose, perhaps earthy with some pumpkin and spices

T: Pumpkin malt, hint of vanilla but hidden by the spices. Not getting much of the rum but a slight sweetness that perhaps comes from the barrel

M:Smooth and clean, not sticky like a lot of pumpkin beers

O: Probably one of the better pumpkins I have had, I think i was expecting to much out of it so i feel let down, but not to say it isnt good, its actually quite good for a pumpkin beer.

12oz bottle served in a pint glass
A slightly cloudy red tinged brown in the glass the head starts out small and falls quickly to an insignificant layer of bubbles on top of the liquid. There is a lot of pumpkin pie spice in the smell there is also a lot of sweetness in there too, maybe some slight vanilla character and a touch of alcohol too. Pie spices are pretty strong in the front of the taste, this yields to a almost neutral to tingly bitter and slightly metallic flavor near the finish. Maybe a bit overspiced, not much of the rum is present and the base beer is maybe a little weak or just overshadowed by the spice. Despite the way the spices hit first and relatively hard, the finish is pretty clean with just a lingering hint of characteristic pumpkin beer flavor. As it warms more of the vanilla woody character from the barrel aging emerges which only adds to the experience. Overall there is enough here to differentiate this pumpkin beer from others. The barrel aging is a cool idea, I think I'll echo what other reviewers have said when I too say I wish it was more noticeable, this seems like a style where it would work well. There is also maybe a touch of room for improvement in the base beer but that can be overlooked. Overall a pretty good one

A: deep amber orange-brown body, faint haze, two fingers of ivory foam slimmed to a wispy cap

S: sweet vegetal aroma, picking up the pumpkin and vanilla, with some rum and oak

T: the rum barrel sugars create an almost pineapple-like sweetness, that melds nicely with the vanilla bean; the more vegetal pumpkin character is spiced and incorporates nicely into the whole.

M: medium weight, slick and smooth, nothing sticky on the finish; relatively clean-finishing actually

O: real nice stuff here - leans toward the sweet side, despite my uses of the term "vegetal" a couple of times - and is in the styling of beers like Pumking, Greater Pumpkin, and the like. The use of rum barrels worked well, as all the flavors are complementary. Pumpkin ale fans ought to give this a try.

A. It has a very dark rust-brown color that is basically opaque with a big off-white foamy head that leaves some lacing behind.

S. There' s an alcohol scent an a mild metallic.

T/M. Ooooo...this is a very sharp spicy cinnamon flavor with a pumpkin tartness. A bit soda (or cola) kind of a taste. Very refreshing and fairly carbonated, yet has a smooth bite.

O. This is extremely flavorful. Definitely one of--if not the--best pumpkin's I've had.
