Holy mackerel, this beer did such an over deliver on its taste. It's better, way better, than Heady Topper. I randomly picked one up at my local brew shop. I poured it, and it was piney, like walking through a pine forest in spring, and the taste was like sipping my own tea brewed with juniper and pine needles. The hops just plowed right through my tongue to the back of my mouth, sitting on the upper palette. So nice. So smooth, so funky.

650 mL bottle. Murky orange. More dark than bright. Smell is intense. Citrus, but more dank and piney. Sugary smell, too. Tastes of grain and bright citrus up front. Then it becomes more piney and dank. Boozy, too. Pretty sweet. This is intense.

L: Gold to orange body with a thickish foamy white head that leaves a lot of circular lacing.
S: Lot happening in the aroma, so allow me to list everything I pick up: sweet malts, meyer lemon, pine, pineapple, underripe stone fruits. This collision of smells are never in conflict and are sometimes nuanced or not even noticeable. Smelling this beer is my favorite part of the experience.
T: Excellent flavor profile that mixes citrus, resin and an awesome integration of tropical fruits.
F: Maybe a touch sweet for some drinkers, but i think the juiciness and hop bite really make an excellently balanced beer. The body is just a tiny bit thing for a DIPA, but I'm not complaining because it still keeps the 8.2% in check.
O: SingleCut making it's way to CT has been wonderful. These guys were barely on my radar last year and now I am a huge fan. This beer fit's right in their portfolio of interesting, juicy ales. World class for sure.

500ml bottle poured into a tulip.

a: A dried apricot orange hazy body with a pillowy 1 1/2 finger white head.

s: Dank and piney with citrus rind and pineapple. I slight aroma of orange at the end.

t: The taste follows the nose but with more fresh pineapple and citrus. The dankness takes a back seat and eventually the crisp and clean malts show their stuff.

mf: Medium body with good carbonation. Creamy body with a wonderfully dry finish in which the alcohol peeks through.

o: An IPA that is actually a beer. This is a IPA that goes head to head with juice beers. Wonderfully balanced in its hop profile and also balanced regarding the malts. There are just enough to back up the hops.

A: lemon honey tea like appearance with a one finger head that leaves some nice lacing
S: A lot of citrus upfront, orange-grapefruit, with some tropical mango-pineapple to mellow it with a bit of herbs and pine at the end
T: follows nose, citrusy and dank and mellows out with a bit of sweet malt and ends a bit dry, not very bitter at all, very balanced, hides the alcohol very well, super drinkable
F: Medium bodied with medium carbonation
O:Really great DIPA. Very balanced with a solid amount of tropical and citrus flavor and aroma that hides the alcohol well. Really drinkable finished my bomber pretty fast. Definitely would get it again.

perhaps a shade behind the shuggie, but every bit as well made, and a nice step up form the half stack. this is the only single cut beer i got to have in the bottle, and i like the way it pours a lot. hazy but not quite as rugged and dirty looking as the vermont stuff, but on its way. bright yellow, clearly no medium crystal caramel type grains in here, which i like in a double ipa, these can get heavy and sweet in a hurry, but not this one. its got a wonderful fresh cut pineapple hoppy nose through its inch of lingering white foam. green melon, lemon, and orange zest also waft in, and there is no trace at all of the 138 IBUs the label declares, or whatever it is. the flavor is similarly devoid of this proclaimed bitterness, but i dont mind a lick, none of us do. its plenty full bodied which i like, well carbonated, dry for the style, and smooth, almost creamy, really beautiful there in the feel. maybe a little less fruity in the taste, hops are green and leafy and probably whole cone, it has that plant matter thing going on, with tropical undertones and plenty of citrus to finish. i like the smaller bomber format, and i like the label, but i love the beer inside. these guys can in good faith add their names to the list of best hoppy beer producers on the east coast. every one i had of theirs i loved, and this is well worth seeking out. yummy and distinct!

On draft and growler from the brewery
This is a damn good beer juicy dank fruity DIPA.
I'd suggest this over any other half offering definitely up there with Grimm DIPAs and exceeds some of the others from This region

16.9oz bottle poured into a Teku glass
A: Hazy light orange with a one-finger head
S: Lots of tropical fruits. Mango, papaya, pineapple followed by orange and a hint of dry earth
T: The palate is quite dry and quite bitter with citrus rind up front this time with a tropical fruit mid-palate and a dry earthy finish. Different from the nose, very layered
M: Medium-bodied, bitter and dry
O: The notes are pure across the board though I think I'd prefer it more if the tropical fruit were more prevalent and it was a bit less bitter/dry on the palate

Excellent DIPA. Typical east coast style DIPA with all the nice - complex fruity notes but the normal hop hit up front is subtle. Overall a wonderful beer. Nice flavor throughout and excellent mouth feel. Very smooth for a 8.2 ABV. Glad I can get this fairly close to home.

out of bomber into pilsner style glass, great color hazy yellow orange, great head that dissipates with lacing that sticks around some residue out of bottle into glass, great smell of pineapple and mango citrus, taste crisp very citrusy and great citrus length through the flavor on each sip, on the fell it lost it's great carbonation fairly quickly, but again the flavor is great....well made overall a IIPA I would purchase again, I am enjoying this as a well balanced double, great smell and flavor.

A: Poured from the bottle into a Piraat tulip/snifter-type glass. Body is hazy golden with a small white head. Some lace.

S: Grapefruit, pineapple juice, tropical fruity hops and some pine. Smells like a citrusy lemonade.

T: Pretty much follows the nose, though it's not as juicy and tropical fruit hoppy as expected in light of the nose - i.e., there's more of a balanced malty foundation than expected. Starts out with straw-like bready malt foundation, then the tropical fruity hops kick in, with pineapple the dominant taste. Grapefruit juice and pith too, with a touch of pine. Finishes with lingering grapefruit on the palate.

M: Medium in heft, good carbonation level.

O: Quite good. I'm not usually a big fan of the tropical fruit-dominated IPAs (or DIPAs), but for some reason I like the hop profile in this one. Solid stuff.

Dankiest IPA I've had from a NY brewery. Little to no malt and there is a good balance of aroma to taste. Well worth trying if you have'nt had it yet.

Started out great---cloudy hazy murky color (cant drink clear beer!)... and it is a very nice double IPA, smooth-no bitterness, low malt profile, some nice hops, great mouthfeel, hides the alcohol well.... but was just lacking that punch--a real piney, citrusy, or other IPA bite, you know, the kind that puts HF and TH in a league of their own! For a new york beer, though, BRAVO!

This is a terrific IIPA as It sits on the cusp of greatness. All be it amazing, it falls short of that of AfterImage, Heady & Pliny. Being a NY native it ranks #1 on my readily available beers.

Hazy straw colored pour with a 1 inch white frothy head. Foam dissipates quickly and leaves behind some lacing on the glass. Aroma is amazingly strong and citrusy. Tastes of tangerine, tropical fruit and citrus rind with a pleasnt but powerful bitterness. Another winner from single cut and proof that you don't have to travel to Vermont or California to get a killer DIPA.

This an extremely good DIPA. Concocted in the ilk of the other BIG highly sought after unfiltered DIPAs out there.

Great looking unfiltered pale citrus color with a healthy head of foam. Intense hoppy aroma and taste with a bit of an off taste on the finish at the back of the tongue. The only real check again it. Something you might detect in a homebrewed beer, but subtle.

Fresh bomber poured into a glass. Looks is a hazy golden orange with very little head surprisingly, even after a rigorous pour. Aroma is wonderful, full of candied tangerine, melon and a hint of some dank floral notes. Taste is spot on with the aroma and also some lemon pith and pine finish. Pretty much as described. I expected A LOT more bitterness for something claiming to be 138 IBU but this is pretty mild and perfectly balanced. Feel is pretty good as well. Maybe a bit thin for a double but wouldn't of expected the carbonation feel based on the lack of head. This is really an solid and amazing beer that I wish I had regular access too.

Smells like straight up nectarine juice. Creamy, smooth mouthfeel with ample carbonation. Mango, pineapple and citrus dominate the flavor profile. This is amazing stuff.

Poured from a 16.9oz bottle into a speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a hazy yellow orange with a thick frothy head.

Nose is orange citrus right of the bat. A definite herbal note.

Taste is grapefruit citrus with a piney aftertaste. Light toasted malt to slightly balance it out.

Close to perfect for me. An amazing nose with lots of fruit and citrus which is backed up with taste of orange, peach and mango. So even and well balanced and a smooth mouth feel reminiscent of a cream ale, still tasting orange creamsicle on the roof of my mouth 15 minutes after drinking. An 8.2% ABV but you would not know it, this is a well balanced, delicious double IPA that exemplifies the best of East Coast IPAs being made today. Seek it out and drink it up. Don't mess around, just by several if you find it.

Murky orange color. The nose is a wonderful sweet citrus. The taste is a lot more bitter than expected, pretty different than the nose. The finish is a mellow earthy bitterness. Overall, a solid IPA.

pours a golden/orange color with a slight white head. A mixture of malt and sweet fruits on the nose. Taste follows the nose. Starts off with tropic fruits (grapefruit, orange, melon) and it slowly morphs into more of a malty after taste. The tropic smell/taste falls off a bit quick on this one. A solid IIPA. Like what these guys are doing!

Pours a hazy orangish gold. Off white head aplenty. Bursting with an aroma of oranges and citrus. Get some tangerine and orange as well as some banana for flavors. A bit of chalkiness. Definitely a really solid DIPA.

This should be a good one. Dropping this one 100 minutes prior to the first pitch of the World Series #LGM. 500 ml bottle into the work snifter. Just a warning; I've been smelling this one for the past minute, and it is unbelievable.

A - A bright, glowing orange. Like it's really making the room brighter. Almost opaque, and no head left after a minute. Pretty good lacing, though.

N - As I said, this is incredible. Tons and tons of citrus - all of them: orange, lemon, grapefruit, lime, kumquat, etrog, pomelo, tangelo, you name it. It's everywhere. Amazing.

T - Yeah, more of the same, although a bit more subdued on the citrus. Not at all bitter, or at least not hoppy bitter, more citrusy bitter. This is incredibly refreshing.

M - Not the immediate froth I prefer, but it gets there eventually. Very wet and unclean on the finish.

O - An extremely nice offering from our friends in Queens. Once again, LGM!
