Notes/Commercial Description:
It’s hot baby, we needed to do something - so a sour lagrr! infused with hibiscus (and black currants, but who’s counting) seemed like something that would help beat the heat.

Visiting Singlecut for the first time (ps - love the atmosphere!)

Beautiful golden straw in color, slight haze but without any funk. When first poured there was at least 2 fingers of foam (even after careful pouring for more than 2 minutes), but that fizzled down to a thin line. No lacing after consumption.

Aroma is tart, breezy, and hints at some funk. No hop presence, light malt aroma.

Sour floral notes with a very light malt backbone. Sweet and pungent, but not sugary sweet - tart sweet (if that makes any sense).

Crisp and extremely refreshing. What starts out "thin" based on the sour element quickly turns into a malty bath of the tongue. After taste lingers but lightly. The coating the lips stays "sweet" and tart long after the sip has been had.

Overall, this is a wonderful beer. I would be happy to buy growler after growler of this during a warm/summer day to share on a back patio or deck.

Had this at the brewery... t'was perfect on a nice summer day on the patio.

A: Gorgeous deep pink color with high carbonation

S: Hibiscus, sweet citrus (apparently it also has black currents in it) and faint sour malt.

T: An excellent blend of all the above - everything nicely balanced and not over the top

M: Thin and mildly fizzy, just right

O: This was a huge surprise by a brewery I'm more and more impressed by each day. Viva Queens yo!!

The perfect summer sour lager.

Had this in the Single Cut tap room over the weekend and it was crisp, dry, refreshing, SOUR and just all-around wonderful.

The color was rose, mesmerizing in fact. I swear if you changed the glassware to a skinny flute-glass you'd think you were drinking champagne. In my opinion this is a very good thing.

The Single Cut reputation has been that of hearty, hoppy, thumping your chest lagers and ales. And in my experience those beers so far have been pretty successful. But I think Kim Sour Lagrrr is a little bit of a game-changer, showing some versatility from this brewery and their willingness to change gears when need be.

So, from the dudes at Singlecut, this is "pretty much" a Berliner Weisse, in a kinda sorta way.

Pinkish hue on a golden colored brew. Flavor is superb, and I am not throwing that word around lightly. The level of sour here is so perfectly even-keeled and level, I can't really think of a better way for it to go. Light hibiscus tones don't get obnoxious at all. Drinks beautifully. This is one of the best beers I have had in a very long time. I am a fan of the sours, and I will try a Berliner Weisse anytime, but I feel I am not being biased in saying that this is an extremely good beer, mostly due to its smooth tone and that it's put together evenly, without trying to be obnoxious or over the top.

Glad I went out of my way for this one. +1 redemption point for an otherwise lame and too quick of a trip back to NYC.

A- cloudy orange body with trickles of carbonation.... Foamy pale white head dissipates into sticky lace about the snifter and atop the body...

S- sour and salty, peaches or some other fruit are there... Definitely a fruity profile underneath.

T- still fruity, with lingering peach and lemon zest, i also get a dry taste that reminds me of apricot... Very interesting... Definitely orchard- like...

M- very light, tart, low-carbonation... Drinks easily... Dry mouthfeel so not quite thirst-quenching but still ideal for a summer day...

O- im loving this beer... Quite the surprise to get from a whole foods and from a brewery I don't know too well. I'd say it's great.

I don't generally like sour beers, so I was skeptical of this one. But wow--it was so smooth! The sourness is wonderfully balanced by the sweetness of the hibiscus flavors. You taste a little of the sour tartness, and then it melts into floral and fruity flavors, and everything is just incredibly well-balanced. Tastes kind of like pear cider, arguably more than it tastes like a standard beer. Color is a very rich orange-red cloudy opaqueness. No hops to speak of, no head to speak of. Truly delicious. Very happy with this beer.

From 05/06/14 notes. Had on tap at The Jeffrey in NYC. $8 for a 14 oz. pour in a tulip.

a - Pours a hazy, amber-orange color with a pinkish tint, one inch of bright white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of sour fruits, funky socks, vinegar, fruity malts, oak, some spice, and sour berries. Nice nose, sour and funky and a lot going on.

t - Tastes of sour tropical fruits, sour fruity malts, citrus, light funky but not as much as the nose, oak, spices, vinegar, sour dark fruits. More sour than the nose but less funky; very good.

m - Medium body and high carbonation. Good mouthfeel for a berliner.

o - Overall a really good berliner; the best beer I've had from SingleCut so far. Nice and sour and funky with a lot going on for a low ABV berliner. Would love to have it again.
