1/2 growler fill from the brewery

nice looking clear amber brew, respectable looking head, film and lace left on the glass.

citric hop nose

more citrusy hop notes all over this one.

Quality IPA, worth a try if you see it at your local or if you make it to the brewery

Had a pint on tap at the brewery while consider how to fill my growlers. I'd describe this as a West Coast IPA as it has big citrus hops with a lighter body for the style and a biting finish. The hops character has a mix of grapefruit and citrus rind with piney undertones that lingers and lingers. The body is more drinkable, but the flavor is rich enough that it's a pleasant beer to sip and savor. Check it out.

Like I said, Single Cut is where it's at in NYC for quality IPAs. Very smooth, bitter yet balanced. This is delicious stuff.

On tap at the Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

Pours a a dark gold, a little bit of amber, with a quarter inch head, and a good amount of sticky lacing.

Smells very piney and floral, with a distinct grapefruit backbone.

The taste is similar. This has a very spicy, grassy hop flavor, with a some grapefruity juiciness. There's not much in terms of malt flavor here, it's maybe slightly biscuity if I really try hard to pick it out.

This is medium bodied, with a crisp, and quite smooth and drinkable mouthfeel. There's a moderate level of carbonation, nothing too prickly.

I'm always happy when kegs of these guys come up to Rochester. This was very tasty.

A: hazy gold ale under a few fingers of ivory foam that left some lace down the glass as it receded

S: citrus and tropical flowers and fruits, undercurrents of fresh-cut grains and danker resins

T: stays bright and floral - crisp and citric for the most part; malt grains edge some of the bitterness and provide a bit of sweetness

M: smooth and medium-weight, lots of bitter pith; moderate carbonation

O: a solid IPA - full of freshness.

Well done. Has that same gruity/pomice note that sn hophunter and stone's "enjoy by" throws, but well rounded by a much juicer finish.

hazy copper orange, thin white head,...piney orange nose.... taste is crisp, clean, pine resin, mild citrus, low malt--goodness.... slightly more bitter than some of its NE hop-rivals but doesn't ditract in IMO.... THE BEST NY IPA to date.... looking forward to their IIPA...

On tap at Rattle N Hum. My first taste of a SingleCut beer more than a year after their opening. I must admit that the mixed reviews I've read and heard via word of mouth have kept me from making a visit a top priority.

This is a solid IPA I suppose but not an exceptional one. The pour is dark gold, decent clarity, about a finger of off white head that settles down rather quickly, modest lacing. Decent aromatics. I'm getting mostly piney, resinous hops and a noticeably bready malt component to the aroma. This is borne out in the flavor. It's actually pretty balanced in that the malt is there in a prominent way, again with a bready, chewy, lightly sweet character, but not enough to overpower the hops, which are piney, resinous, and bitter. None too subtle or particularly flavorful. This doesn't have the aspirin bitter finish of some other heavy handed IPAs you'll encounter but the overall impression seems to be more bitter than, well, delicious. This drinks almost like an imperial, what with the bigger malt character and a touch of booziness as well.

Medium-full body helps to further that impression. Medium carbonation, good feel overall. Sort of a semi-dry finish, doesn't clean up completely.

Again, this is a solid IPA but this style has come so far these days that this simply does not stand out or rise above the many others that either are its equal or superior.

bottle picked up locally enjoyed from a singlecut snifter.

a - brew pours a cloudy orange with a finger plus of frothy ipa head that never fully left and left stringy lace on the glass.

s - nose is rich ripe tropical citric fruit. smells fresh and fairly dank. really inviting...makes my mouth water.

t/m/o - east coast hop bomb. rich dense layers of ripe tropical citric fruit. full bodied and a bit chewy, but dat flavor!!! oh that flavor!!! super duper tasty IPA. easy drinking and refreshing...can't stop gulping it down. singlecut has been impressing me since day one...i am surprised that there isn't more buzz about singlecuts great ipas. i am definitely a fan.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yet brig honeyed golden color. Head is thick and frothy. A succinct swirl of my glass really agitates it and makes it grow. It is surprisingly timid with its glass leftovers. East Coast IPA nose. Young citrus, tropical fruit and some onion and weed when regarding the hops in the nose. Really molded to my preferences. Hops are from the Pacific Northwest, New Zealand (moans with pleasure) and Australia (softer pleasure moan). No wonder why I am drawn to the nose. The nose drips down into my mouth via the flavor. Hoppy flavors of citrus, earth, green onion, tropical fruit gang, grass and melon. Malt is unobtrusive. Medium bodied with a sneaky bitterness. It starts to sear after a few sips. Bubbly. An impulse buy (aren't they all) that paid off. Polished this little bastard off post haste.

On tap at the brewery the first day they announced it was back on tap.

A: Keep yellow hue, perfectly clear and quite possibly the most gorgeous color I've seen in an IPA. Nice fluffy white head with excellent lacing

S: I could smell this beer across the table - Intense tropical citrus aroma that's about as strong as I've encountered, amazing

T: I can't get over the smoothness of this beer, while still giving an intense whallop of tropical citrus hops. Very bright notes of pineapple, orange and grapefruit all with a smooth, VERY subtle malt sweetness. Totally unique and winning

M: Just about ideal, just enough malt but not sweet or cloying. Totally there to prop up the hops. Thanks SingleCut!

O: Could be my favorite SingleCut beer to date, very close to outstanding

On tap during a session tonight in NYC

appearance: Hazy, looks unfiltered. Great head and lacing.

smell: Strong notes of pine, sweet citrus (orange) tropical (mango/pineapple) and mild dankness. I smelled this beer before picking up the glass

taste: Smooth initial piney flavor melds into intense mango/pineapple/orange citrus with a mild dank finish. Malt is subdued with a faint biscuity smoothness.

mouthfeel: Ideal for an IPA - not too heavy, not too thin, and goes down easily.

overall: Learned about this brewery recently and have been really impressed. This is a great IPA
