(Served in a tulip glass)
A- This beer pours a deep pecan brown body with a thick lumply light tan head that last a good bit.

S- The earthy caramel aroma has some dry roasted malt finish that ends with some pumpkin notes.

T- The slightly tart note turns fruity as it opens up with some roasted malt flavors finishing with a dry toasted biscuit note. There is a faint pumpkin spice note but it stays subtle.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a slight slippery texture and no alcohol heat.

O- This is a great pumpkin beer, with real pumpkin small and just a hint of spice to support the flavor not dominate it. The malt has a good complexity and is great for the cool fall. (686 characters)

22 oz. bottle, with handwritten Batch #63 written on the bottle. The new pumpkin ale from Spiteful Brewing, out of Chicago. Expectations are fairly good; I've enjoyed most of the beers I've tried from these guys so far. 6.66% abv.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a somewhat thick, cloudy, murky burnt orange colored body. About a finger of tan froth that leaves some nice scattered webbed lacing. Looks nice.

S - The aroma is pleasant, but not entirely what I expected. Smells more like an imperial brown ale or something along those lines. Toasty, nutty, malty, with some mild herbal hop presence. Some cola-esque notes. A bit of earthiness / gourd comes out, probably from the pumpkin. Not ridiculously over-spiced with the same shitty spices used by other brewers, so that's a relief.

T - Taste follows in wake of the nose - creamy, nutty, malty, earthy, lightly herbal / bitter / gourdy. Toasty and nutty, again, more in the wake of something like an imperial brown ale. A sweet brown sugar flavor is noticeable also.

M - A smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied with excellent carbonation. Some lingering brown sugar sort of flavors.

Overall, a unique and flavorful take on the pumpkin ale from Spiteful Brewing. Definitely a refreshing incarnation of the style. Recommended if it is available to you.

Served in a Trooper shaker pint glass.

Yup, the pumpkin beer season isn't quite over yet, folks. This stuff pours a clear orange-tawny topped by a finger of glowing dirty white foam. The nose comprises rich caramel, clove, brown sugar, cinnamon, and some heavily-toasted pumpkin seeds. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a twinge of chocolate powder. Unfortunately, as things progress into the finish, the clove and toasted characters bleed together and collude to form a bluntly bitter sensation of pain. My wincing would have provoked quite the smirking had anyone else been present in the room. Trust me. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid, slightly slick feel. Overall, what begins as a solid pumpkin beer takes a Hyde-style turn and just rails against my tongue. Not a fan, lemme tell ya. (864 characters)
