Black body, ample rising tan foam, leaves behind some spindly lace.

Roasty rich coffee aroma, nice. Possibly some unique character from the Simcoe, hard to tell.

Bitter and roasty flavors of black malt, dry coffee, nutty almond and chicory. Finish is very dry and moderately bitter, not much hop flavor just bitterness. Medium bodied and smooth. A tasty porter brewed with English Amber malt and American Simcoe hops. Well balanced and drinkable, considering the higher abv.

Served in a nonic pint glass.

Gotta have something to go with these skewers, and this one jumped out at me first. It pours a deep, dark black-brown topped by over a finger of dark khaki foam. The nose comprises roasted malts, mild coffee, a hint of dark chocolate powder, and a kiss of greenery. The taste brings in more of the same, with the greens attempting a full balance against the roast and chocolate, but not fully achieving such a status. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, a solid porter, one that went pretty well with the salmon skewers I was eating without smothering their not-so-robust flavor. Good times.

22oz bomber into a wicked weed snifter. batch #45 so this is from about 11 months ago.

pours a dark black with a nice inch thick brown head. smell jumps out at you right away even though its still a bit cold... roasty malts are very aromatic as well as hints of toffee. taste is very bold and a bit hoppy, especially for a porter. i get a lot of sweet chocolate and coffee. finishes sweet and dry and with a pretty big mouthfeel for a porter. damn good honestly. carbonation is perfect and drinkability is high.

overall highly exceeded expectations, even for spiteful which i have had nothing but good experiences with in the past. terrific for style!

22 oz. bottle, with handwritten Batch #45 written on the label. A new beer to me from Spiteful Brewing, out of Chicago, my first encounter with a porter from these guys. Expectations are good.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - Pours a dark chocolate brown; appears opaque black in the glass with about a finger to two fingers of thick khaki-tan head.

S - The smell is comprised of charred roasty English malts. A bit of caramel / toffee makes an appearance. Chocolate. The hop presence is noted, but not overpowering.

T - Taste brings more of the same, roasty, lightly charred, chocolate, coffee beans, caramel / toffee, and a hint of hop presence, but nothing too extreme like how others have said. Earthy / herbal hoppiness is most noticeable on the end.

M - The feel is smooth & creamy. Milky. Medium-bodied with good, low carbonation. Roasty bitterness on the finish.

Overall, a solid example of the style from Spiteful Brewing. I am interested to see how the other variants of this beer are, and I can't wait to crack the barrel-aged version!

A nice deep brown in color with a finger of sand colored head (tan with a light hue), nice lacing left behind. Smells of cocoa, raspberry/blackberry, almost a coca cola scent to this.. Slightly roasty, sweet malts, smells.. Well dark , and slightly fruity. Flavor is god damn raspberry! Haha, lots of raspberry up front with a roasty finish.. Bit of chocolate, roasted grains. Damn tasty fo'sho'

.. Lighter Medium body medium carbonation.. I wish it were slightly fuller.
This is pretty awesome for a fruit beer. I've had raspberry stouts before and they weren't that great, but something light like a porter works well with the berry flavor.
