Served in a small snifter. Inky black with mahoghany edges. Thin collar of tan lace around the edge. Surface retention lasts for awhile.
Plummy fruit aroma, whiskey, vanilla, port, mellow wood comes out at room temp.
Currants, raisin, bracing booze at first though not overpowering. Rich and potent, enjoyable in small doses. The best part was the initial fruitiness in the smell and taste. Better than BA Malevolence, a little more complexity on display here.

22 oz. bottle, no apparent bottled on date present, but the label reads "G.F.Y. Stout aged in bourbon barrels from 7-5-13 to 6-2-14". I'm going into this bottle unbiased, since I've never had the regular base beer before. Acquired this bottle at the local beer store for something like $17.98 plus tax. Expectations are stellar.
Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.
A - It pours an epic inky sludgey black colored body. Thick like motor oil with hardly any conjuration of head. It conjures about half a finger of extremely dark mocha when given a nice swirl in the glass. Leaves behind some thin lacing as it recedes but none really sticks. 4
S - A very beautiful aroma - vanilla, chocolate, fudge. A beautiful bourbon barrel aged aroma. Lightly oaky & woodsy, with some alcohol fumes noticeable. Rivals some of the bigger and badder bourbon barrel aged stouts that I've had like Bourbon County. 4.5
T - Taste is the same - vanilla, caramel / toffee, fudge, cookie dough, coffee beans, and lots of dark chocolate roastiness. Some warming alcohol heat on the finish. 4.5
M - Smooth, silky, & creamy. Minor alcohol heat lingering on the palate, but it otherwise goes down extremely easy for a bourbon barrel aged stout. 4.5
Overall, another wonderful bourbon barrel aged installemnt to Spiteful's portfolio. The alcohol warmth feels a bit deeper than the 8.00% abv noted, but it goes down easy nonetheless. Delicious, aromatic, and highly recommended.

Appearance: Pours jet black with heavy viscosity. Half a finger of dark brown head formed on the pour but settled to the edges of the glass while drinking. A touch above active carbonation, especially for how heavy of a stout this is.
Smell: Vanilla and a big sting of bourbon. Robust, semi-sweet malts with just a touch of roasted notes open up on the body. Milk chocolate, caramel, and some light oak show up on the body as well. More bourbon and vanilla slap you on the face on the way out.
Taste: Chocolate and full bodied malts that aren't overly roasted on the front. Barrel character really opens up on the body with accents of oak, vanilla, and molasses. The bourbon and big semi-sweet malts come together perfectly on the back end with a touch of palate teasing booze that really pops.
Mouthfeel: Carbonation is low but plays so perfectly with the big malts and barrel character. Decadent mouthfeel is exactly what I look for in a stout.
Overall: From the moment I tried regular GFY stout, I prayed one day it would meet the graces of a bourbon barrel. This did not disappoint in any way, a truly elite barrel aged brew. Looking forward to seeing what time does to the other bottles I was lucky enough to get.
