From BeerAdvocate Magazine #74 (Mar 2013):

The big version of Beavertown’s 5.4% Smog Rocket Smoked Porter, and a double nod to the smoky Stouts and Porters of the UK’s Industrial Revolution. Despite its smoky and boozy presence, it’s a rather straightforward beer that drinks surprisingly well, albeit a bit rough around the edges.

STYLE: Smoked Porter
ABV: 9.0%
AVAILABILITY: Limited

LOOK: Pitch black, super tight and creamy beige head

SMELL: Malt and smoke; lovely smoke

TASTE: Bitty, chewy, smoky, a bit boozy, dark fruits and chocolate, black treacle, tangy, grainy, astringent, dry finish

As said by another: dangerously drinkable. Not for a night before a work day. Smell: powerful. Taste: wow!

330ml can bought from Lighthouse Wines, Jordanstown...

Poured pitch black with no hint of colour even when held up to the light. Mocha brown head poured small but tight and thick then faded fairly quickly to light thin covering... barely any lacing...

Aroma - Tons of rich roasted dark chocolate and coffee maltiness, lots of sweet treacle and brown sugar, some cigar like smokiness, rich dark fruits (prunes, dates), alcohol not really noticeable, some pine notes, light sooty traces, toasted (maybe charred ?) fruit loaf, some earthiness...

Taste - Sweet milk chocolate, lots of roasted / charred bready malts, some light balsamic notes, treacle and molasses sweetness, dark spicy fruits (raisins, date, some figs), light warming alcohol, faint grassy and peppery hop bitterness, traces of piney resin...

Feel - Rich and creamy with a little sharpness coming through... medium / full bodied... for an 11% brew this is dangerously drinkable..

Overall - An excellent rich, sweet stout although i would have liked a little more smokiness... certainly recommended though

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Described as being barrel aged in Glenlivet 1989 barrels.

Expires November 2023.

Pours a hazy reddish-orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and toffee aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel, toffee, whiskey, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of wood bitterness and an alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a whiskey barrel aged presence that only really comes through in the taste in my opinion.

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a Fullers snifter glass.

Pours a thick black colour with a nice looking tan head.

Smells very boozy. Dark fruits.

Tastes like the smell. Tons of booze, burnt malts. But the booze covers up everything.

Overall an extremely boozy beer, not as good as the regular smog rocket.
