A 330ml can with a BB of Aug 2015. Picked up recently from Trembling Madness in York. The label calls it a blood orange IPA.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip. Can conditioned. A hazy golden-amber hue with plentiful sediment and medium carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a while before steadily reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.

S: Aroma of intensely fruity hops with hints of grapefruit, sharp orange, peel, citrus, pith, earthy yeast and mild malt. Lots of orange - delicious.

T: Tastes of powerful fruity hops with an obvious citrus slant and a spicy bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, acidic orange, peel, citrus, mild white grape, earthy yeast, subtle grainy malt and faint stewed hops. Well-attenuated, followed by a tangy hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with pleasant carbonation and good body. Hop oils stimulate the palate. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity hops, spicy bitterness, earthy yeast and faint malt.

O: Superb! A successful blend of tart orange and fruity hops that complement each other nicely. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are replete with citrus notes. Underpinned by earthy yeast and mild malt. Body is lovely. Tons of fruit/hop presence; a treat for the senses. Well worth sampling if you come across it.

Had it on tap, but it also comes in a can, orange in color, that resembles an orange soda can.

Not what many would call an IPA, but I guess if you like mild, fruity drinks, then OK. I would guess this will get a following among those that don't like beer that much (or IPAs at all). Very easy to drink.

Pours gold with a large head.
Nose shwos piny, earthy, spicy and grapefruit-like hops with some very light malt underneath.
Similarly hoppy flavours, some citrus comes through the hops. Nice biscuity malt.

On tap at the Old Toad in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a pale orange, with no head or lacing.

This smells super orangey, of course, with some pine, orange zest, and and grapefruit.

Given the lack of head, and apparent lack of carbonation, due to the lack of a head on this one, I didn't think it would taste like much. Luckily, I was wrong, and this tastes pretty solid. The orange flavor is very fresh and juicy, and laid on top of a fairly solid, but slightly unexciting IPA. There's some pine and grapefruit, with no malt flavors.

This is light bodied, with a quite juicy mouthfeel, and a lower level of carbonation. Despite the appearance of the beer, this does have ample carbonation, but it's certainly not high.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles on the surface, a thin collar around the edge, and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of blood oranges are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the flavors of blood oranges are much stronger and seem like someone squeezed some fresh orange juice into the beer. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied and slightly crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: If you like blood oranges, this is a really nice beer, but if you are a hophead the IPA might not be bitter enough for you.

I never would have know there were blood oranges in this beer if it wasn't plastered in the description. Tasted like a standard, fairly malty English-style IPA to me.

Appearance is orangey amber with big head and big carbonation.

The smell is disappointingly weak but some piney hops are detectable.

The taste is good and bitter with a pleasant orange tinted sweet undertone.

Overall a good but not spectacular American style IPA. Delivers some hoppy bitterness but a little lacking in aroma and in standout flavour features.

Beyond the citrusy character that America's prized pacific northwest hops can provide, the brewers of Beavertown employ the use of vibrant, ripe and radiant blood oranges to finish the job. Giving the ale the mouthwatering citrus flavor that hop-heads covet comes full tilt in Bloody 'Ell.

The IPA's bright golden appearance casts a slight veil of haze across a light honey appearance. Capped with a creamy eggshell froth, its scent is decidedly of musty citrus and with a fragrant grassy nod. But to taste, the thinned honey and thinned caramel foundation shows first to the initial palate.

And as those malty sweetnesses rise then fall relatively quickly, the hop onslaught begins to build. Quickly overtaking the balance, the dedicated orange flavor of exotic hops and fruit saturates the tastebuds with a fructose and acidic twang. Introducing flavors of pink grapefruit, lemon and honeydew, the bitterness builds and kicks the ale into a hyper hop gear.

With the malts receding and the hop bitterness at its apex, the beer's hoppy tilt as accessorized with dryness, crispness and a clean malt finish. But that showcase also sheds light on the fruit pectin and the hop's leafy bite to contribute a mild wine-like astringency to close the session.

The colour is pale amber (15 EBC), the liquid is clear. The two finger head is white and very compact. It sinks slowly leaving lots of thick lacing.

The smell is semi-sweet with distinct notes of orange/blood orange/grapefruit juice. It is clean and bitter with a slight sourness. Hints of alcohol in the background.

The taste is clean, bitter and fresh. Very light malt profile, it is quite dry. Citric notes of (blood) grapefruit, bitter orange and lime peels. Hints of perfume and fruit-flavoured water ice. Light to medium body. The aftertaste got growing bitterness and warming alcohol, bitter orange marmalade and a hint of wheat dough. The finish is clean and balanced with bitter citric flavours.

The carbonation is strong, the long lasting mid-sized bubbles tickles the tongue. The liquid is semi-smooth and a bit dry.

A very clean fruit IPA with just the right amount of fruity flavours. Highly drinkable.
