Leader Bar has been open a couple years in Irving Park, it's a trendy sports bar with a mediocre beer selection, and a slick vibe that doesn't really jive with the neighborhood. Not worth BA's time (wouldn't bother adding it), and gets mixed reviews from the locals.

Through the corner revolving door, the bar starts on the left and wraps around. Piped in country music and a wall of flatscreens behind the bar and also lining the outer walls. The space is horseshoe shaped, many tables arranged around the 3-sided bar, some long and communal. Dark wood bar with brass rail, square backless stools, tile under the bar with dark wood flooring in the dining area. A few after work groups were sharing drinks, no game was on so it wasn't crowded. The vibe was slick and sterile, it felt like a chain though it isn't. Same owners as Uberstein, Maxbar, and a nightclub or two.

Tap and bottle selection is over half macro, and the craft side of it is pretty uninspired, middle of the road to boring. Out of 50 beers there were maybe 5-10 worth drinking, Gumballhead, Sofie, Julius Echter, Krankshaft, Rev Eugene, Fin Du Monde... Three towers of 14 taps, all the same, again half macros.

Service was quick and friendly, the bartender lamented that they couldn't keep Gumballhead in stock and said the taps don't rotate a whole lot. One tap is beer of the month though, and surprisingly was Anchor OSA served in a super cold pint.

Overall it's a mediocre experience here. Lizards down the street is much more cozy, so is Brisku's, with a much better bottle selection practically right around the corner. Not much here worth mentioning to be honest.

2013: Had to meet some people here, and the service left a lot to be desired. Basically were denied a table inside at 6pm when no other parties were there, then got forgotten about on the patio. Host guy was a little "off"... Would not recommend.
