Pours a decent creamy 1/2 finger head that fades at a med pace light lacing over a hazy straw yellow color, very light yellow colored.

Nose has some nice floral hops, little citrus and tropical fruit, light grapefruit and tangerine, hint of resin and misc tropical fruit blend, very light malt.

Taste starts with some hops, slightly chewy and spicy and light resin. Lighter bitterness at first, then increasing and getting to a decent apa bitterness but not quite ipa. Light sweet malts, no malt character though just plain pale malts. Hops bring a little citrus and orange rind flavor as they go, with a touch of grapefruit mist. Finish is drier and somewhat bitter but on the lighter side, faint grapefruit and orange pith lingering and touch of spicy hop and resin.

Mouth is med bodied with lighter but decent enough carb.

Overall not bad but nothing too special. Hops bring some interesting characters with tropical fruit and citrus but lighter side, not too much of anything, and bitterness overall is a bit too light. Malts are barely detectable, and would be ok if this was a citrus or tropical fruit bomb, but with the lighter side of the hops it could have used some more malt character.

Not quite sure what to make of this. I don't get any of the citrus flavors I expect from an American IPA.

Very malty with a caramel flavor. Nice color and mouth feel. Strange (for me) aroma.

I don't hate it, I was just surprised by it.

I say try it. You might like it.

A- Poured from the 12oz bottle to a snifter with an orange body that has a bit of yeast haze to it. A white head forms on the beer to about one finger with a creamy texture. Head retention is decent as a thick, frothy ring surrounds the top of the beer. Narrow sheets of lace follow the ring down the glass and end spotty.

S- Floral and citrus hops off the top with some malts to back them up. Notes of grapefruit, orange zest and some spiciness. Caramel and crystal malt backdrop with some bread hints. There is something else to this that I can't quite put my nose on. Fruitiness perhaps from the yeast similar to apples but not quite.

T- Balanced IPA flavor. Hops are once again heavily floral with some citrus rinds ala grapefruit and orange and slight spiciness. Fresh cracked grains bring some caramel and biscuit feel. Fruity tones and some bread from the yeast take away a bit from the brightness of the hop flavors.

MF- Body is somewhere around medium thickness with a nice creaminess upon agitating the brew. Moderately high level of carbonation. Finishes with a medium bitterness coating the taste buds.

Solid IPA that never struck me as anywhere close to 7.8% with alcohol. However, some fruity yeast notes and a decent amount of caramel cracked grain flavor comes out that takes away a bit from the brightness of the hops. I can appreciate a balanced beer but the overall combination of the flavors doesn't really satisfy what I look for in a great example of the style.

Pours cloudy orange-gold. Small head; recedes slowly. Good ring lace with bits of streakiness.

Mild earthiness to the hop nose. The malt is soft. Well balanced.

Starts off with a pale malt subtlety. There's a strong kick of peppery hop. Earthy with a touch of alcohol warmth. Rich, round feel to the mouth. Moderate carbonation. This has some elements of the British version of IPA but the hop bite is distinctly American.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into an imperial pint glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a large foamy dense off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick but spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains floral hops, fruity citrus and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with a hearty malt character breadiness that is quickly followed by a strong citrus and caramel sweetness. The hops presence is strong but not over-powering and creates a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a solid IPA to drink for a while.

22oz bottle purchased as a single from Yankee Spirits, Sturbridge, MA.

Easiest of pours into an imperial pint glass yields a 2" off-white head that continues to rise, snow-coning above and over the rim. Brew is clear and golden. Head continues to rise, even after a few slurps to rein it in. Aroma is earthy and floral.

Taste starts sweet pale malts, generic bitter in the middle that smooths to the close pretty balanced. Mouthfeel is reasonably smooth, and drinkability is only limited by the fact that I have to keep waiting for this confounded head to die down. WOuld have preferred more interesting hop character, and more hop intensity for the style. Maybe the problem is that, while I haven't shaved in three days, I am not enjoying bearded like the bottle instructs.

22oz bomber
A) Pours with a big, white, and sticky head. Hazy yellow-gold body. Sticky lacing on the drink down.
S) Citrus notes - orange and grapefruit. Not overly aromatic.
T) Bittersweet grapefruit upfront. Some malty sweetness pokes through and bringing balance. Very mellow finish that is smooth and doesn't have too much hop residue lingering in the aftertaste.
M) Medium body. Smooth. Creamy. Easy drinking.
O) A decent IPA and not too ridiculous with the hops. Carbonation needs to be tweaked. It took 15 minutes to drink one glass because the head builds at light speed when pouring. This also takes away from the appearance.
