B3 is hands down the best online homebrew shop I've purchased from. Their selection is top notch and their customer service can't be beat. You will need to order over $60 to get the free shipping (not all items qualify of course) and the turn around is a tad slow but if you have problems with what you receive, a quick phone call takes care of everything. Their staff is very knowledgable and should be able to answer any question you might have regarding their products.

I have also ordered from their Riverside location (not mail order) and am always impressed by the friendly service I've receive.

Terrible shipping department,. they screw it up every time and over charge for shipping. You cannot find out how much shipping is until it is shipped. Great idea??

I'll never use them again unless they fix what they screwed up for me, which I doubt - they seemingly don't care.

They have terrible customer service and their website has issues. Here's how my experience has gone:

1. I placed an order online and change my billing and shipping addresses because I moved.
2. Then next day, I receive an email from Keith Klingler saying that I didn't enter any shipping information for the order.
3. It's impossible to place an order without entering shipping info, but I'm not that bothered. I just email him the correct address.
4. Six days go by and more order hasn't shipped, so I email asking for a status update.
5. Keith inform that my credit card was declined. (It's because he didn't change the billing address only the shipping.
6. I ask why they didn't inform me there was a problem and Terry simply apologizes and offers to cancel my order.

7. I realize I need a few additional items, I just place another order. Also, I notice their site has turned my original order into a quote, so I know it's dead. BTW, this time the website addresses has no address saved (old or new), so I enter them again.
8. This time I get an email from Terry Howery saying that I didn't enter a shipping option. (Again, it's not possible to place an order without choosing a shipping option). I choose the free shipping and my order total reflected that. Terry's email included an invoice that still had the old, original addresses on it!
9. So I emailed Terry. I said that I would like free shipping and to please correct my addresses.
10. He emailed me back with a corrected invoice.
11. 4 days later I receive my order.
12. 3 days later I receive the order again.
13. I email Terry them to inform him that I received double orders, asking for an RMA.
14. He replied and said that it''s my fault.
15. I'm contacting my credit card company.

I will never do business with them again.

This is for MoreBeer's web operation...if they were my local store I'd probably be broke by now. Prices and selection are the best you will find. I've brewed two of my own recipe extract batches with their exctract and it is fantastic. Also brewed their Pliny Extract kit and it was awesome. Not big on kits, but like the Pliny kit so much that I've got their Pizza Port Shark Bite Red fermenting away now.

I've also bought a bunch of equipment from them and everything comes fast and is shipped for free if your order is over $59. You can't ask more than that. My go-to for equipment and any ingredients I don't buy locally.

This has been my homebrew shop in the east bay for the past two years.
Great place overall, and right next door to a local brewpub = win

They have a great selection of malts and other grains. They have two mills in shop for customer use. They also have a couple flavors and types (liquid and dry) extract if you aren't brewing all-grain. Pretty diverse selection of hops and yeasts as well.

The major draw of this store is the brewing equipment though. Their starter kits are fantastic and they almost have all the incremental upgrades to get you to nano-brewery status. AND their prices on most these items are incredibly low. I highly recommend this brewstore for east bay brewers.

I went here to check it out since I haven't been there in like 12 years. They have moved since the last time I was there. They had a huge selection there. I didn't even know where to go when I first walked in. For a while I was just exploring. It was pretty sweet. I was checking out the kits and one of the guys helped me find the kit I wanted. He looked in the back for me and found the one I wanted. He was very helpful. I ended up picking up a kit for a Double IPA and a Brew Your Own magazine. Excellent Service and selection there. Obviously I have to come back in a few weeks for the bottles so I will be back again and again.

Walked around into the shop area and ale industries before we were directed across the way to the actual homebrew shop. Smelled just like an ale american ale was being made.

Lots of brew supplies refrigerated yeast, hops etc. . . Lots more gadgetry than most shops. Jockey boxes to the left. Cooler w some beer, wish they carried some wine racks or coolers. They have their own, one full size, one wine fridge, but none for you. Lots of kegs, even some w pro beer in it.

Help was helpful, asked if we need some help, chill w u if u dont.
Worth visiting for the barley aroma alone.

Took an "All grain brewing" class here a couple of weeks ago with my Father in Law (Thanks Steve! :D )

Pretty damn good selection, in the class which was a pretty damn good value they provided you with a free beer for lunch as well as some pizza and broke everything down to a fully understandable point (I am in the process of going from extract to all grain at the moment).

Incredible selection, major clone kits available, wine supplies, brewing, hardware and ingredients, oak chips for bourbon barrel home brew.

The only downside if any was a lot of the brewing setups and or hardware seemed to have a healthy to pretty healthy markup on them, I would go there for support, questions and brewing ingredients, but WOULD ADVISE doing research on eBay and other sites prior to buying any hardware there first!! You could probably find it for 20-30% cheaper elsewhere, though you won't get the support and expertise that comes from their staff!

I have made several orders from More Beer since about 2002. They have a great selection of ingredients, but their selection of hardware is their strong point. I am not a "gadget" oriented homebrewer, but that is definitely their focus.

I have been satisfied with their ingredients and their quality. When I order from them I am usually able to buy everything I need for a batch from them. Their shipping prices are decent and their turn-around time is good. I have not had a need to use theri customer service because I've always gotten exactly what I wanted when I ordered it.

I've made several (>6) orders through More Beer for both equipment and ingredients. I have always received my goods in a reasonable time and haven't experienced any problems. They have been very timely with shipping out my orders even though I use the free shipping options. The goods have been appropriately packed.

Additionally, I find the themes and selection of their kits to be above average. They have a good selection of equipment such that it's nearly a one-stop shop. I also appreciate their support of the homebrew community and brewing education. They have helped with the Jamil Show, which has been a great educational tool.

I have nothing bad to say about this place. They are, hands down, the best homebrew shop in the world... well as far as I've seen.

The staff is always helpful and they seem happy to be there. The quality is second to none, and their selection is hard to beat... Although I have bought hops on the web when I couldn't get high alpha hops during the hop shortage. Their prices are fair IMO. They sometimes seem high, but they frequently run sales and special, and they give a discount to club members, so that helps a little.

What can I say, I love this place.

One of the best mail order homebrew shops in the country and probably the best homebrew shop in the Bay Area. Located in an industrial area of Concord. Well stocked showroom. Big selection of ingredient kits. They make a lot of their own homebrew equipment themselves so they know what works and what doesn't. They likely have what you are looking for, and if they don't, they can get it. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. This place is highly recommended. Just around the corner from Monument Liquor as well!

I took my non-homebrewing friend there recently and he was amazed at the selection of this place. The sheer size of the showroom is certainly amazing.

Then again, B3 is probably the largest homebrew shop in the country/world though they might be outdone by Northern Brewer.

Pricing is hard to beat. Items are cheaper than you typically pay at a smaller homebrew shop.

Selection is incredible. You can find anything and everything homebrew-related.

Service is personalized and very knowledgeable. Every singe worker here has an extensive knowledge of brewing and they take this hobby seriously.

JP, John Plise, Reagan, and the gang are all great folks.

I wish I lived closer. Well, I wish they were closer, actually. I like where I live.

As most people know or have read this is a mail order place mostly.

I witnessed this as orders came in employees came out from their place in the back and grabbed items and scampered off quickly.

It was impressive to watch everyone at work.

Service was great there was only one guy but he was answering the calls, helping me and other customers.

Prices are mostly fair but some things I can find slightly cheaper.

I wish there wasn't a max on characters because now I'm just writing because I'm told I have to . Ultimately I wanted to write this review because it's the least I can do for this store since they have provided me with years of great service.

Since I don't live too far away, I stop in the Concord location pretty regularly, dividing my team between here and Oak Barrel.

Well, these guys have a big mail-order setup, so it stands to reason that they are well stocked and have pretty much anything you want or need (especially if you like gadgets like i do) for any level of brewing. A ton of specialty and advanced (for example: yeast culturing) equipment is available and most is reasonably priced. They have an extensive selection of hops, extract, grain and yeast, and since they have a high turnover you are pretty much guaranteed everything is fresh. They also carry an extensive selection of adjuncts and special ingredients (water treatment, oak chips/cubes, flavorings, etc). There's also an extensive selection of books and magazines, and everything you need for a home bar/ kegging setup.

B3 has everything an aspiring homebrewer, and professional, needs to get going. From startup supplies to actual brewhouses, they sell everything. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. They brew some good stuff in the garage and they can help you do the same. Their warehouse is full of beer, wine, and coffee making supplies, and the online store has good stuff as well. The in-store bottle shop (a double door cooler) is full of Russian River and Lost Abbey beers. Bought Temptation and Supplication at a homebrew store! Oh yeah, they have a small, but outstanding selection of kegs to purchase as well. I have bought a 5 gallon keg of Bear Republic racer 5 and Russian River Pliny the Elder here before. Highly recommended. If there is a better homebrew supply store out there, I will erase this review. This place is amazing

I first must say this is based on their website as I have not been to the physical store(s). They have a great selection and very reasonable prices. In Vegas I have no LHBS so this is the next best alternative. The best part is the free shipping on orders over $59. My first order was placed on a Tuesday and arrived Thursday evening, granted its just Cali to Vegas but to get packed and shipped in 2 days with free shipping is amazing. Huge selection, everything I could want and then a lot more. Placed a few orders so far and everyone has been packed carefully and any special requests have been taken care of. The only negative I have is their extract kits are a little weak. They come with the same instructions for everyone and many are very different from each other but those little differences are not explained very well, it'll just say skip to step 5, or have an asterisk with 3 different ways of doing something based on your kit. Being a brewbie it would be nice to have a little more specific instructions. But the free shipping and large selection with very competitve prices more than make up for it.

I've been there twice now. The first time was to get my beer making supplies and the second was to get some ingredients. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable and I was helped within a few minutes of walking in.

When I purchased my initial kit, the guy actually talked me out of spending even more money on an outdoor burner, and he told me the pros and cons about a really cheap system. I felt like I could trust his opinions.

I got into a really good conversation with a different employee the second time I was there. He recommended their Scotch Ale kit, and we discussed all sorts of beer-related stuff.

Even though I could order online, it's worth the twenty minute drive into Concord to go there in person. All in all, a really enjoyable shopping experience.

I found this place on the web while looking for homebrew supplies. I used to work in the Concord area, and would stop by before I attempted to make the long-trek back to the South Bay. I found the quality of their inventory to be above average. I remember them being understaffed almost all the time, then again, I used to go in during what I'm sure was the busiest time of the day. The staff there is very knowlegable and Jonathan helped me refine some of my new recipes. The in-house selection is fantastic and I actually enjoyed the Bavarian ambiance while shopping in the store. My online transactions have been timely and I will continue to frequent morebeer.com.

I ordered some stuff from these guys on line. Their web page was easy to navigate. They have a huge selection of homebrewing equipment. I didnt order any ingredients though, because I didnt want anything to go bad. Also, I want to support local business as often as possable. They have a lot of items that I didnt even know that I needed until I saw them. Now I have an extensive Christmas list. Some of the items are a little pricy, but most everything it fair enough. I ordered my stuff about a week ago, and I recieved it today. I think that is reasonably fast. I think, if I cant find what I am looking for in town again, I will go through these guys.

Review of the on-line shop.

Beer, beer and more beer is one of the better on-line homebrew supply stores. Everything I’ve ever ordered from them has been fresh and prompt with few problems. Selection is good and the free shipping on orders over $49 is a big plus.

The beer ingredient selection is decent and at first glance looks impressive but whenever I go to make a beer, especially from a recipe, they always seem to lack key ingredients in the beers I’m making. Of the 2-½ dozen malts, most are either basic base, crystal or common specialty malts. Hop selection is actually pretty good but I’m always surprised they don’t carry styrian goldings which seems to hinder a lot of my attempts at making Belgian beers. Beyond that though, it’s definitely more than adequate for making most standard beers. A full range of hops, yeast’s and all the other ingredients.

The one thing that really sets Beer, beer and more beer apart though is their selection of brewing equipment. It’s simply out of this world. Everything from basic kits to full blown brewing sculptures and everything in between. Really an amazing selection for anyone doing all grain and looking to modify or upgrade their setup.

The beer kits here need to mentioned as they have a lot of really impressive special kits including a great clone kit of the rogue I2PA.

Overall I have very mixed feelings about ordering on-line from here. If I want to convert my apartment into a brewery or brew a straight-ahead American Ale it’s a must visit, but for brewing most any other things I usually pass.

Stop two of the return leg of the great 2004 Sonoma County Beer Run. (Stop one was a repeat trip to Russian River to say hi to Vinnie as he bottled some of their Belgian-style beers)

More Beer is located in an out of the way location in Concord in a series of light industrial warehouse units.

The actual retail footprint for the shop is relatively small for the size of the operation. Located behind the shelves of gear and yeast samples is a giant mailorder operation with tall shelves filled with supllies. In yet another unit was the real heart of the operation, the machine shop with a veritable playground of high end fermentors, brewing systems and other gadgets.

The other bits of the business include an inventory station, etc. But its clear these guys have cornered the market on making new spiffy beer gadgets and mail order.

For a relatively stranger, they also gave me the guided nickel tour and man was that a fun thing to do.
