They have plenty of booze and but just barely ample beer, so that you will find something worth drinking beyond the coolers full of bmc....a few local craft options but pretty limited...they do seem to have slightly more selection then the rest of the local places and def more then the two disappointments known as the local public markets....seems that the craft beer boom is just barely reaching Fort Pierce...

They used to have a big selection of bombers to choose from. Not so much anymore. The cooler is jammed with a good selection of 4 and 6 packs.
Cheers

I live locally in Port st. Lucie and this place rocks. I've been to most every store that has any kind of beer selection and I have found Roy's humble little store by far the best around. Now I have to admit I've lived in Florida my entire beer drinking career so I don't have the experience of the huge beer stores I hear about but I would go here over any other store in the area. They have the best selection of beers within 45 minutes of my house. The beer guy was awesome, some dude with dreads that seemed to really know his shit about beer, he was very polite and helpful while me and a buddy bubbled around trying to decide on a custom 6 pack while there are 50+ beers I'm still wanting to try in the coolers. This is the place to go for any beer geek living or visiting in the area.

hmm, I wonder why this place hasn't been reviewed in awhile by any beer geeks because the old reviews don't do it justice now. I think this place is great. It has a good chunk of the beers you could hope to find in the area and it was obvious they are eager in getting whatever else they are able to. The service was great as well. The guy chatted with me and patiently answered any questions I had (and since my toddler has decided sleep is overrated my communication and decision making skills are considerably lacking. I really appreciated how friendly he was) Definitely the first beer joint I've found around here that makes a 30minuteplus drive, necessary to find good brews, worthwhile.

Thank you Beerfly for pointing this place out. Went to Vero Beach last week to visit relatives and then to Port St. Lucie to visit an old roommate and his family. Roy's, located on US 1 in downtown Ft. Pierce has the best selection for this area. The store is more a wine store than anything else, but once you get to the back of the store you will be pleasantly surprised. Within the coolers I found DFH, Great Divide, North Coast, Stoudts, Left Coast and others. Decided on a sixer of Titan IPA and Red Seal Ale. Overall, a decent store, in fact the guys at the counter complimented me on my selection. Prices are a little more than I'm used to, but its well worth it considering your in Walmart Nation. Roy's is a place I will hit again on my yearly visits to the Treasure Coast.

I was visiting my parents in Port St. Lucie, and Roy's was listed as the one best hope for beer in that neck of the woods, so I braved Route 1.
The place is not big, but it's easy enough to get to, and what they carry, besides the requisite macros, was not at all disappointing. And from what I udnerstand, it's good for the area, but that's apparently not saying much.

The beer guy I spoke to was eager as hell to talk beer and help with my selection. He almost begged me to come to the tasting they were holding a couple of nights later, once he found out I was from a more beer-friendly area. While I could not make it, were I there longer, I would have.
Anyway, as friendly and helpful as he tried to be, I think the service may suffer slightly from low exposure to many of the better beers available elsewhere. For instance, upon asking about Lost Coast Indica IPA, he told me, solemnly and earnestly, that it was hoppier than HopDevil. Now, I didn't really believe his assertion, and upon sampling, my doubts were confirmed. Still, the service is nothing if not full of effort and spirit.

As for the selection, it was moderate and limited. I did find various offerings from Flying Dog, a curious situation common to many establishments in that area of Florida, as FD is from Colorado. Sierra Nevada is well represented, as was Rogue, Lost Coast, and Red Hook. There were also the standard UK beers, such as Guinness, Newcastle, and Boddington's Various singles were kept on a short 4-footer of shelf space, and here they had several Lindeman's available, as well as a few from Russia and Slovakia. It's here that I found Baltika, a welcome surprise, as I'd never had a Russian beer. And the beer guy is only too willing to order anything the distributor can get, and he'll glady call to see just what it gettable. So while indeed limited, it's far from a wasteland.

So next time I'm visiting Mom and Dad, I'll stop in Roy's again, for sure. And believe me, if I'm visiting them, I need anything Roy's can supply me!

Roy's does a good job in a stark beer world. They make an effort at trying new lines if you ask them. The "beer guy" Rick is very excited about trying new stuff. He loves beer and makes the store worth stopping by every now and then. They recently made the big step of carrying the Shipyard line. Doesn't seem like much but that's big news around here. They always seem to be over stocked with lagers. I guess they are very popular down here. They will try to special order anything that is available in Florida. I'm waiting for my SN Celebration Ale Case and Anchor OSA they have to special order. Yea it's that tuff here brother !
