The big brother of our Tyranny Red Ale, this heavily dry-hopped ale is a delicious creation. Tyrant is full of malt rich flavors backed up with deep pine, herb and grapefruit peel aromas, all around a hop heads dream. This is a big, bad beer that drinks a little too easy for the 8.5% abv.

I will preface by saying I love WW. This is a big RED that has that dry edge like Freak but softness of a red ale. Full bodied. Fantastic.

Poured into a tulip.
Look is dark copper to light red. Minimal head but nice lacing that sticks. Looks exactly what a double red should look like.
Smell is malty, slight lemon or citrus notes, hint of pine and hops.
Taste follows the nose. Strong malts, hoppy but balanced, and a slight fruit finish. Overall a solid better with complex flavors and a strong punch.
Feel is medium bodied with a strong finish. It hangs in the back of your tongue.
Overall I'm glad I found this. Strong best like freak of nature but a great interpretation of a red. Love the color and complex finish. Would but again.

Not sure if my bottle was just off, but had an overly boozy taste even for an 8.5% beer. Citrus was very muted, and even the hops were overpowered by ethanol. Will try it again to see if it was the beer itself or just the one I happened to get.

From the label: "Bottled On: 10.24.16"
Appearance: The body is a dark copper with a deep red-brown hue. It has good clarity through the dark body. The head is medium sized with a creamy texture and an eggshell white color with just a touch of a tobacco stained yellow. Good retention and lacing.
Aroma: It has a nice bright tangerine aroma with a moderately strong malty alcohol scent. Mostly that sweet tangerine smell consumes the aroma.
Taste: It has a bit of that tangerine flavor up front with a nice grapefruit flavor following through. Very nice bitterness that is present but never harsh. It has this nice sweet tangerine flavor at the end. No real malt character but the hops taste great.
Mouthfeel: Great bitterness and carbonation. It has a nice clean crisp mouthfeel with a light-to-medium body.
Overall: It's a great beer and it is very enjoyable to drink. I really liked the fresh, sweet tangerine character the beer had. I would drink it again and I would recommend it.

Very tasty, would drink again. One of the better red IPA's I've had recently. The malt character (very deep) plays with the hop character (also nice) in a very synergistic way.
