Serenity is our aptly named 100% brettanomyces fermented beer. Light in color with a subtle golden haze, the nose bursts of white grape, mango, pineapple and old leather. The flavors are similar to those found in New Zealand white wines and notes of guava and grape skin stand out leading to a well-rounded finish. Serenity won the Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal for American-Style Brett Beer in 2013.

Bottle. Clear golden color. White head that fades.
Very light all around. Light Brett, light funk, nice white wine notes. Some grapes and tannins. Fruity, zesty, faint citrus. Pretty decent.

Heads up, my bottle gushed upon opening.
The pour is semi-hazy pale yellow with a large lumpy foam leaving some sparse coral lace.
Smell is lightly funky and a little phenolically spicy, which is all joined by notes of hay, grass, lemon-lime and horse blanket.
A drinkable, nearly Belgian sort of pale ale, this has lemon and yellow apple notes behind the hay, hints of horse blanket and semi-bitter phenols.
Moderate of body with a light airy froth, the finish is crisply semi-dry.

This is a foggy golden straw beer (SRM 3-4). A fluffy white two-inch head settles to a half inch of seafoam, leaving thick lacing on a Blue Point tulip glass. Fine carbonation is random and lazy.
Brettanomyces is strong in this earthy beer. Dry straw, lemon and oak interact with musty leather and fresh-baked white bread. The aroma is reminiscent of a strong Saison.
Sourness is light, followed by a gentle balance of sweet and bitter. Wheat provides a consistent backdrop with nuances of Chardonnay as it warms. The finish is earthy and lingering. Warmth also brings out the mushrooms as well as lemon. This beer is clearly improved at the warmer end.
Light carbonation tends to lift a full thick body to a soft, velvety texture. There is a hint of metallic bite and the alcohol far exceeds expectations.
As an American Wild Ale, this is light and enjoyable. As a Saison, this shines with mild sourness. Regardless, I scored it as an American Wild Ale, as that is how it is labeled. Were it intended to be a Saison, both palate and flavor would rate higher. I enjoyed it during a brief moment of solitude between and rough day and dinner.

From the side of the label: "Date Bottled: 6.20.16"
Appearance: As soon as the cap was removed it started to slowly build a foam that oozed out of the top of the bottle. It has a light straw colored hazy body and a medium sized creamy textured white head. Despite the vigorous foam it does not retain a sizeable head or leave much in the way of lacing.
Aroma: It has a sour fruit aroma and a bit of a bay leaf scent.
Taste: It has a very nice delicate tartness with a bit of a white wine flavor. There is just a bit of an apple character right as it fades out in the end with a very light earthy flavor.
Mouthfeel: Very light and delicate with a dry and slightly bitter finish.
Overall: The high-points of this beer are its subtle delicateness and simplicity. A fantastic beer without any added bells or whistles. It promises nothing and in return delivers everything. It is a great beer to just sit back and enjoy with the character and complexity of French lace.

Pours a brilliant dandelion yellow with a slight haze but rather clear with a bubbly finger of white foam that dissipates leaving little head.
Citric notes of pineapple and lemon, must, grass, grape skin, and a bretty funk.
Much more vinous in flavor with a burst of grape skin and oak, balanced by citrus fruit and a bit of earthy hops.
Light-bodied, high carbonation, mildly tart, funky, bone-dry finish.
Overall, I was unfortunately a bit let down by this. While it is certainly drinkable, it lacks complexity that makes it rather dull.
