Tried this at a tasting with WW reps. Bottled just for the occasion!

This pours a cloudy pale gold/hazy straw in color. There’s an aroma of wet hay and funky straw, with some lemongrass. 100% Brett fermented, and that characteristic shines through. The flavor is lightly tart, crisp, and Brett-tastic.

I picked up a case of this brew in Hickory, NC, the first round of bottles that came out of the brewery. It pours a golden straw color with minimal head. Lots of lemon zest in the nose and the taste follows suit. The funk is very mild, so I see why some folks aren't fully behind this brew; however, IMO, this is probably the best introduction to sours I've ever had. I've turned a couple people on to this brew... who have already embraced the style and tried much more tart offerings they wouldn't have touched otherwise. I could drink this all day... and maybe I will.

Sampled from a 375ml bottle purchased at The Beer Dispensary in Apex, NC.

A - Yellowish gold and very hazy with almost no head.

S - Funky with some lemony tart notes. Very enticing.

T - Funky with some tartness. Starts better than it finishes. The flavors seem to fade way too fast.

M - Feels too thin. Almost watery. A low to moderate carbonation.

O - Some promise but not what I hoped for.

Big thanks to n2185 for the bottle. Tasted 27 June 2014.

Pours a lightly hazed pale straw yellow, with just a touch of gold. Two fingers of fizzy white head, okay retention, not much lacing. A thick column of bubbles rushing up from the nucleation point at the bottom of my glass.

Smell is delightful. Lightly funky, hugely floral underneath that, with a gentle overlayer of white wine. Delightfully complex, deep and airy at the same time.

Whoa. Taste is interesting. All sorts of stuff going on, much of it unexpected. Apple juice, sweet white wine, some barny funk in the back. As it warms, it gets more funky and tart and tangy, less sweet, but retains that amazing complexity.

Feel is a ride. Starts out sort of heavy and flattish, then buzzes up like a bee warming up, before relaxing slowly as the fizz fades. Quite unusual, but it works.

This is an oddly unique beer. Lots of flavors combining in unusual ways, and a mouthfeel that adds character and brightness.
