A: pours black with a finger of tan head that fades into a frothy ring with almost no lacing.
S: roasted malts with sweet chocolate and creamy coffee aromas following. There are hints of vanilla and oak. Smells quite nice, though the Brett isn't really noticeable here.
T: roasted malts with semi-sweet chocolate up front before some light and tart fruit flavors. There are some musty barnyard flavors before a finish that is slightly charred and tart.
M: medium-thick body with medium carbonation, this beer is fairly drinkable, but could use a little creamier body.
O: a good beer, overall, and quite unique. I'd like a bit more presence from the Brett, but what's there is nice.

Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a stemmed tulip, the beer is jet black, with a ruby highlight and an off-white, fluffy head. Nose of rich coffee, chocolate, and molasses, with a tart fruit highlight. Flavors are rich berry and cherry sweet forward, with a subtle coffee and chocolate backbone. Very rich and sweet. Smooth, light, and dry in mouth, with a bittersweet and fruity aftertaste. The finish is slick and slightly oily, with an effervescent fruit linger.

Appearance: Pours out with a dark brown color and a modest head that leaves a few spots of lace
Smell: Roasty chocolate with coffee elements
Taste: Roasty chocolate, up front, but it is in the middle, where the characteristic blueberry aspect of Ethiopian coffee shines; after the swallow, the Brett adds a bit of funk; the finish is oaky with a hint of Bourbon
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: Not up to the level of the New Glarus Old English Porter I tasted a few years ago, this is nonetheless a worthy brew worth seeking out
