@ Busy Bee

Cloudy reddish peach color with a fleeting foamy head that dissolves to nothing. Smells a bit funky with a buttery barrel quality, a flash of distinctive dry hop character, passion fruit, emerging lemon funk, and some floral notes. Fruity, dry oak barrel and tropical fruit flavors...lemon, some grain after swallow. Dry, not too sour, some lingering astringency, but not much. Though there is definitely a big tropical fruit presence, this never struck me as being particularly hoppy; nor did it strike me as all that sour or Brett-y. This rides somewhere in the middle, a nice blend of flavors that doesn't do any one thing amazingly well, but results in a nice beer.

Poured into a Dogfish Spiegelau glass. No freshness date.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains a bit before fading to a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a full sheet of bubbly surface foam. Non-resilient lacing slides quickly down the glass leaving a broken ring behind.

S- Aroma is comprised of mild Brett, lactic acid and soft, slightly citrusy hops. Never smelled anything like it before. Sweet, fruity. Light tinge of alcohol.

T- More fruit, a slight tartness...and not a whole lot else. All the elements seem to come together and, rather than giving a big burst of flavor, they just flatline. There are some notes of cherry, raspberry and lemon but it's all very toned down. The tartness overtakes whatever bitter hoppiness is there. Jammy, sweet.

M- Moderate pucker, a bit tangy with medium carbonation and a lightish body.

O- Not bad but, as far as hoppy sours go, NB Le Terroir is way better. Yes, that's the only other beer of its kind that I have to compare it to, but I feel like this could have been better executed (especially given the steep price tag). But hey, Wicked Weed is still young, learning and trying new things so go ahead and decide for yourself rather than take my word for it. Also, it's worth noting that this could be a very good gateway beer for people unfamiliar with sours due to its accessibility and drinkability.
