Pours into an impy nonic a deep bronze color with a thinner but well sustained off white head atop, aromas of nutty malt anf lighter piney hops, some brown sugar-like sweetness is there as well.Nutty malts with some caramel sweetness at the onset of the palate, some earthy and piney hops come in the finish.Iam a huge fan of the old school left coast hoppy reds, this falls just a little short of the best examples but it's still a good offering from to me the best brewery in NC right now.

Poured from growler into glass.

A: Mosaic of Brown, Golden and red... Lovely rich clean color. Semi-transparent. One finger head that fades and lingers in patches throughout consumption.

S: Dank. Clean. Mildly pungent. Not a ton going on but nothing offensive either.

T: Big, piny hop profile that hits you up front. Candied bitterness that lingers. Grapefruit. Slight roast. Savory.

M: Pretty aggressive bitterness leeches to the cheeks and tongue. Medium bodied. Creamy.

O: One of the better hoppy red/ambers I have tried. I really enjoy this style and this one is top level... especially if you love a pretty aggressive bitter hop profile. There is more depth to this beer however than just over the top bitter... Nice layer of soft, juicy creaminess that makes takes this up to excellent IMO.

On-tap at Wicked Weed Brewing, Asheville, NC

A: The beer is very hazy yellowish amber in color. It poured with a thin off white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose along with some notes of caramel malts.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of citrusy hops along with notes of caramel malts and a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate with a hint of crispness and a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The citrusy flavors in this amber ale are really nice, so this is a amber ale that should satisfy hop heads.

A simple but refreshing red with a crisp finish that reminds me of a fall day in mountains.

The color is a strong auburn that would make an Alabama fan wet themselves. Had I time and the lexicon to adequately relate the exquisite flavor of the Tyranny Red, I would do better to try my hand at writing the next great American novel. How does it taste? It tastes good.

Pours a lightly tarnished copper color with a thumb sized cream colored head that falls to ring scum and leaves some spotted lace.

Aroma is bright west coast pine hops with some underlying citrus notes all on a lightly sweet caramel base. This brew brings a smile to my face while inhaling it just like the Double Tyranny.

Taste is defiantly west coast hops nice pine and citrus hops on a sweet caramel malt base. Solid hoppy red ale. Finish is lingering bittier hops citrus and pine even some minty notes.

Mouthfeel is about medium with fairly active carbonation.

Overall a solid amber ale not quite as good as their double red but enjoyable.

Pours out a dark amber color with ruby highlights and some off-white head.

The smell has a decent hop profile of citrusy, grassy notes as well as grapefruit and orange. There is a nice caramel malt note along with some slightly bready notes.

The taste is also pretty hoppy; plenty of citrus hop notes, grapefruit and orange and earthy/grassy notes along with a decent amount of bitterness. The caramel malt comes in middle of the mouth and adds a slight sweetness that balances the bitterness from the hops.

The mouthfeel is slightly creamy and the body is light-medium. Finishes pretty dry and clean.

Overall, this is a really nice first attempt at a hoppy Red Ale. It's not my favorite style, but they did a good job and it reminds me of Three Floyds Brian Boru.
