A birthday gift from brewdude1982. A 32oz growler from his trip to Asheville.
A - black with a large, dense, soft, foamy brown head that has great retention
S - chocolate covered cherries, cough syrup, red wine
T - subtle tartness, faint chocolate, raspberries, faint yeast, warming alcohol in the finish
M - light to medium bodied, a bit warm in the finish, well carbonated
This is an interesting beer. I was impressed with the aroma. It really does smell like chocolate covered cherries, but borders on medicine. The taste is a bit odd to me. I get the cherries. I get the chocolate though it's faint. It's a nice flavor, but it's not full-flavored. The mouthfeel is also a bit surprising. This is soft and light; very easy to drink. Overall, this is a unique beer that is definitely worth a try. I would have preferred it to have been more full-flavored, but I certainly wouldn't ever pass this up.

This was a 10 ounce pour at Wicked Weed in Asheville NC.
It is dark black with very low retention and almost no lacing. It smells like chocolate covered cherries or at least that was the first thing that popped into my mind. It has a mild sweet taste which fades to a tart taste that is very enjoyable. The whole time you get chocolate and raspberries the whole time. I was amazed by this beer. I bought one for my wife who isn't into the big bodied beers as much as me but after I tasted it I had to get one for myself. I would highly recommend. I give this beer a 5 overall because I have never tasted anything like it and it is amazing.
