Notes/Commercial Description:
The Freak of Nature is our San Francisco inspired hoppy monster. At 8% abv and who knows how many ibu’s, this beer is our shrine to the Hop. Absurd amounts of the big West Coast hops gives this beer its citrusy, weedy nose and big, dank flavor. We dry hop with 48lbs per batch, which is over 3lbs of hops per barrel. In keeping with the classic style of the West Coast double, sugar plays a large part in creating this dry and minimally bitter double IPA. The Freak is particularly pintable for the style, so if you dare to enter, we welcome you to the Freak Show.

Pours a clear golden color with some orange highlights. Head is thumb sized white that falls to a ring leaves some nice sheet lacing.

Aroma is nice honey sweet malts holding big fruity hops pineapple, mango, grapefruit and hints of clover. Pretty nice west coast nose.

Taste is big hop forward some light hints of malt sweetness right at the start but hops jump right in some light fruitiness mango, pineapple in the middle. Finish is grapefruit bitterness along with some pine resin and minty hints.

Mouthfeel is solid medium with good medium carbonation level, fine for the style.

Overall nice big IPA big hop forward one malt being on the lighter side. On the board they had the IBU listed as ? mark meaning to many to count but doesn't seem anymore potent then most I2PA's.

Excellent pour right from the tap. Great light amber color and nice foam which left a nice lace as I drank. Above average aroma, but not over the top. Well balanced malt-to-hops. Wish I had more time to explore past their "flagship" beer.

Pours burnt orange with hues of amber. Thin half finger head retains very nicely.

There are some great hop aromas coming off this, mostly mango and papaya but some hints of grapefruit are also detectable. There is a caramel malty backbone that gives it a rich smell.

Taste is great, hops are forward and give some great pineapple citrus and mild herbal notes that are mixed with some moderate piney bitterness midway through the swallow. Malt is near the end and is slightly hard to detect through the bitterness.

Mouthfeel is good, lots if bitterness typical to double ipas and moderate carbonation to keep it drinkable.

Overall this is a really great double ipa, lots of tropical fruit hops make for a really tasty brew.
