The Freak of Nature is our San Francisco inspired hoppy monster. At 8% abv and who knows how many ibu’s, this beer is our shrine to the Hop. Absurd amounts of the big West Coast hops gives this beer its citrusy, weedy nose and big, dank flavor. We dry hop with 48lbs per batch, which is over 3lbs of hops per barrel. In keeping with the classic style of the West Coast double, sugar plays a large part in creating this dry and minimally bitter double IPA. The Freak is particularly pintable for the style, so if you dare to enter, we welcome you to the Freak Show.

A- Pours a clear amber with minimal head.

S- Holy cow! This thing had ripe peach, pineapple, even watermelon coming out of it. I had to do a double take to make sure that nobody walked by with perfume.

T- What a refreshing summer drink! And 8.5 percent alcohol which you do not taste. The tropical flavors and wonderful hops are abundant. Mouthfeel is light considering the abv , and malt is faint, actually lighter than I would prefer. This is why I would call this an amazing summer IPA/DIPA .

O- Probably the best IPA or DIPA in Asheville. Though I prefer more of a malt backbone, I'm glad I had it in summer. It was refreshing on a hot day.

IPA lovers, the Wicked Weed is your destination in Asheville. Be warned, the service here is lacking and quite inattentive. But so is every place in Asheville.

Oh, the food is really good here too.

A - A clear golden beer, with white head that forms up full and pillowy, fading to a whispy white trace, with significant lacing.

S - Pine and sharp hop fruit notes of lemon and grapefruit.

T - Starts with a bright fruity elements, primarily of grapefruit pith and lemon zest. Middle remains bold, but the pine comes forward and the malt sweetness underlies these hop characteristics. In the close, the bitterness rises and hits hard, finishing things with a long bitter trail.

M - Significant carbonation, but the close of bitterness builds over time.

O - This is a delicious DIPA, with solid hops and subtle malt. The close is bitter, but not enough to shake me off this brew.
