Wicked Weed is one impressive operation and probably the most interesting beer coming out of Asheville (or even all of NC) right now. Taking a cue from Dogfish Head and others they really swerve at times and create some unique brews that you won't get anywhere else in the area.

Large outdoor area leads into a long hallway, roughly twelve tabs at the expansive bar and lots of long Old-Europe style tables and booths line the front. Place was packed while I was there, there is an open kitchen in the back. Down the stairs is their private brew-house room that has even more unique beer and some pretzels. That's for the true die-hards as that's where the rare stuff is.

I had an IPA, a super light wheat and their Peach Ale. All very nice, the Peach in particular was suprisingly good, no food but it looked solid and Asheville has great food all around so I'm sure it stood up.

Service? The one drawback of this place, and other reviews have mentioned it, is that it's really the only beer place in Asheville where you will get some douche attitude from the staff. A fellow patron of mine was new to craft beer and had some basic questions and was treated with a roll of the eyes and some surliness from the otherwise nice bartender. Didn't really think that was called for.

Anyway, this place is well worth a stop, it gets crowded so come at off times. Probably the best beer in town. By the way, make sure to stop by and see a show at the Orange Peel next door, one of the best rock clubs in the country.

Great place - love that this was built in a vintage garage. Excellent beers, decent menu. Go downstairs and sit outside on the patio if the weather is decent. Be sure to ask for their 'triple double' if they have it on tap!

Vibe - very active. Large number of people present when I went, which was on a Wednesday around 6P.M. Friendly ambience. Only negative, or positive depending on how you want to look at it, is there were more kids than I expected to see. But the place looked great. Decor, tables, artwork. Very nice.

Quality - Tasted 3 separate beers while there: a DIPA, IPA and a Bourbon BA imperial stout. All delivered. I wanted to try more because the offerings were plentiful, but with the time constraint and limited amount of beers I could try, all 3 delivered.

Service - We had a nice server who was quite responsive and quick to deliver both food and drinks. The waiters and waitresses seemed to work as a team so when our waiter wasn't bringing us something, another individual of the staff was.

Selection - beer selection was plentiful. A lot of variety with many pale ales, IPAs and DIPAs on the menu, along with saisons, sours and stouts. A few BA offerings were available as well and some selection of bottles that they keep. Food menu selection was also nice. Burgers and more modern type of dishes were available.

Food - very tasty. Menu will have plenty of options if you don't like burgers but my friend and I each got a different burger (I took the standard while he went for the bison). A good burger is my standard order when I go to a new brewpub. If that fails, that's big negative on the place. This did not fail. Burgers were big, well prepared. Their homemade chips were also quite tasty as an appetizer.

Overall, I was very impressed with this place all around and I could see it being an even better place to hang out when the weather is nice because of all the outdoor seating that they have available. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I will definitely come back to Wicked Weed if I'm in the area again.

This is probably the top tourist spot in town for beer related activities, as the place was so crowded it was hard to walk through. Big garage doors are open for fresh air, and there were a bunch of people sitting outside enjoying beers in the sun. The bar can seat about 25 and luckily I found a free stool. Every table was filled and there was a serious wait for a table.

There were about 15 beers on draft including some sours, germans, and belgians. Add to that a bunch of bottles. The beers I had were all very good, including a new sour release called Marina which was really good. Service was decent, but the crowds including some obnoxious folks shouting for beers over my shoulder killed the vibe a bit.

Strange Navajo looking façade. Always thought that through pictures. However, we sat in the outside/back room/downstairs/patio with the heaters on and some loud... Hipster neutral milk hotel style music blaring. The place smelled like every brewery with a hint of food. There was free water and pretzels and mustard. That's a nice touch! The beer was very solid! This place is worth the trip. We didn't go to the funkatorium because we had the fur babies. The service was great (it was around noon and there was hardly anyone else here.) we also got the boiled peanuts... Salty and cooked just right. We'll be back.

First time to Asheville--parking tougher than expected... Arrived around 1 PM on a Friday afternoon. I went straight downstairs to the beer bar rather than the upstairs restaurant. Not too crowded when I was there--kinda empty, but a good vibe. Great selection of stuff. Everything I had was very, very good. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. Food (bison burger) was good. This is a cool place, but mostly, my rating is based on the great beer...
