Wicked Weed is one impressive operation and probably the most interesting beer coming out of Asheville (or even all of NC) right now. Taking a cue from Dogfish Head and others they really swerve at times and create some unique brews that you won't get anywhere else in the area.

Large outdoor area leads into a long hallway, roughly twelve tabs at the expansive bar and lots of long Old-Europe style tables and booths line the front. Place was packed while I was there, there is an open kitchen in the back. Down the stairs is their private brew-house room that has even more unique beer and some pretzels. That's for the true die-hards as that's where the rare stuff is.

I had an IPA, a super light wheat and their Peach Ale. All very nice, the Peach in particular was suprisingly good, no food but it looked solid and Asheville has great food all around so I'm sure it stood up.

Service? The one drawback of this place, and other reviews have mentioned it, is that it's really the only beer place in Asheville where you will get some douche attitude from the staff. A fellow patron of mine was new to craft beer and had some basic questions and was treated with a roll of the eyes and some surliness from the otherwise nice bartender. Didn't really think that was called for.

Anyway, this place is well worth a stop, it gets crowded so come at off times. Probably the best beer in town. By the way, make sure to stop by and see a show at the Orange Peel next door, one of the best rock clubs in the country.

Visited while on vacation recently. Really nice atmosphere with the restaurant on the entrance level and the taproom down the stairs to your left. Very casual with lots of young people, a few small children, and even a well-behaved dog. Make sure you check out the bathrooms (the men's room is labeled with King Henry, the ladies room is labeled with King Henry's 3 prematurely-deceased wives). The food is unspectacular, but reasonably priced. The beer is superb. Lots of taps with tons of house brews. Be forewarned - the focus here is on saisons, sours, and other flavorful beers. This place does not dabble in styles that appease the masses so your beer-challenged friends that like amber ales may not enjoy it (or maybe they will and this will push them over the cliff into BeerAdvocatedom). Growler fills are a bit expensive. The service is excellent. The young lady who waited on us was very patient in answering all my questions and even helped us pick out a t-shirt.

Highly recommended and not to be missed if you visit Asheville.

Got the chance to stop by here during Thanksgiving break. WOW. Their beer is on point. Some of the best Saisons and Sours I have had in quite some time. Now mix their awesome beer selection (pretty damn good) with their on point food, this place is great. The only catch to it is if you are not there early, you will wait. I had gone in early to get a table while my wife was shopping, and they would not let my wife in while I sat at a table since they were at max capacity.
