Wicked Weed is one impressive operation and probably the most interesting beer coming out of Asheville (or even all of NC) right now. Taking a cue from Dogfish Head and others they really swerve at times and create some unique brews that you won't get anywhere else in the area.

Large outdoor area leads into a long hallway, roughly twelve tabs at the expansive bar and lots of long Old-Europe style tables and booths line the front. Place was packed while I was there, there is an open kitchen in the back. Down the stairs is their private brew-house room that has even more unique beer and some pretzels. That's for the true die-hards as that's where the rare stuff is.

I had an IPA, a super light wheat and their Peach Ale. All very nice, the Peach in particular was suprisingly good, no food but it looked solid and Asheville has great food all around so I'm sure it stood up.

Service? The one drawback of this place, and other reviews have mentioned it, is that it's really the only beer place in Asheville where you will get some douche attitude from the staff. A fellow patron of mine was new to craft beer and had some basic questions and was treated with a roll of the eyes and some surliness from the otherwise nice bartender. Didn't really think that was called for.

Anyway, this place is well worth a stop, it gets crowded so come at off times. Probably the best beer in town. By the way, make sure to stop by and see a show at the Orange Peel next door, one of the best rock clubs in the country. (1,514 characters)

Went on a Sunday Evening. Place was jam packed with patrons eating before a show at the adjacent Orange Peel music venue. Service was awesome. Quick and friendly staff that was genuinely interested in taking care of me and my fellow beer geek comrade. We both had a flight and sandwich. I had a lamb burger that was divine. The flight was inexpensive and delicious. Asheville is a great beer town and stopping by Wicked Weed is a must when visiting this idiosyncratic western North Carolina town. (497 characters)

A nice building on the edge of downtown, lots of seating outside with a fire pit. It is a nice enough place but no really unique character to it. The food is quite good, we had some of the pork rinds which were still crackling from the frier, and my bacon and tomato sandwich was awesome. The beer stands out as well, everything we had was good and some where great, though the sour beers we had the next day at the funkatorium were by far the best. I had high expectations as I had spent the last three years or so hearing about how this place finally gave Asheville a brewery that justified the locals boasting about what a great beer town this is and I wasn't disappointed. (680 characters)

The upstairs restaurant is very nice with very attentive staff. The food is good, and there are 10+ beers on tap with flights available. The focus is definitely hop-driven brews, but there are always some available that suit the palate of those who are more averse to hop-flavor. Downstairs is a tasting room that opens later in the day which boasts 29-some taps. The staff claim that the benefit of the space is that it is situated in the actual brewery, so bar-goers can see the facility, and there is more room to provide a wider selection of beers on tap. Unfortunately, after drinking at the bar upstairs, downstairs proved to be exactly the same in appearance and only offered two more beers than were available upstairs. (727 characters)

Other than the sheer mass of people this was a fantastic place to enjoy beers in the cellar or food up top. The beer selection was great and the wait staff was incredibly friendly. I had a bison burger that was amazing and a flight of fantastic beers. (251 characters)
