My Wife and I were in Austin for a week in mid-May 2015 (during the month-long rain fest). First of all, parking near Banger's is going to be tough. Patience is a virtue in this endeavor...it's worth it. Despite being seriously crowded, a waiter approached us fairly quickly. Nice guy who handled everything with aplomb. The tap list is world-class and quite extensive. Way too many quality choices to make it easy on a beer geek. Not a bad problem to have, mind you. The food? How does a smoked bacon and shrimp sausage on a bed of beautifully grainy white cheddar grits sound? It went swimmingly well with my two draft picks. Correct glassware and perfect temps. Very nice, well-behaved crowd. If I lived here, i'd be here every week. God bless Texas! (753 characters)

The vibe is crowded, hipster and tastefully re-purposed older building... so exactly like everything else in this part of Austin. The beer selection is very nice, lots of taps and pretty much all local/regional and much of it the sort of thing a hardened beer geek would be happy to find. Service was fine, it was a Saturday night and crowded and honestly we managed to get drinks at the bar much quicker than I expected and when we got a table our waiter was good. The food well, I expected it to be the main draw, but if I went back it would be for the beer. I think I ordered one of the weaker items on their menu, but still my sausage was just ok and none of the others I tasted were a whole lot better... oh and the red beans and rice were flat out awful, like those would get you run out of town some places. Not to say I wouldn't give it another chance, especially if I lived in Austin because the beer selection alone would draw me back then. (955 characters)

Interesting place as there is a large outdoor picnic area that was packed, and inside the bar and few picnic tables were empty, so I opted for the bar. The bar is small, wood topped, and can seat about 8 - 10 folks. Hog heads line the walls. The wall of taps is impressive, and labels above the taps each listed a number and the beer. The bartenders really understood the offerings and styles. So with 101 taps, what to choose ? They nicely broke the beer labels down by style making it easy.

The sausages were superb. The beer just as superb. Service was prompt, knowledgable and friendly. What else can you ask for ? This is a must stop for anyone coming to Austin. (670 characters)

I did not have any food. 101 taps even though a couple are taken by wine, cider, coffee, and kombucha. Very strong. If you are coming to Texas for beer, this is a wonderful place to start. Best local stuff you can find in theses parts. Definitely surprised by a few things on the list. (287 characters)

i don't like talking down about places or businesses so i won't. i will just say that the situation was so bad that i got my food for free and a 20 dollar gift card.i had high hopes for this place but unfortunately sometimes things don't always work out. (254 characters)

Didn't go in here for the food. I had a shrimp BBQ? It was a forgettable at best, a sausage link served on a bed of gritty mashed potatoes with bbq sauce splashed over the top of it.
Beer on the other hand, impressive. The must've had over 95 beers on tap with a few wines as well. Knowledgeable bartenders was a plus here. They explained the taste and beer style before serving. (379 characters)

Bangers has a bar which seats about 25, several indoor tables and a large outside table area which is set up like a German beer hall. On all 3 of my visits I sat inside at the bar. Over 100 taps, over half from Texas including several hand pumps. Plenty of variety for all tastes and more than enough IPAs for this Hophead. All of the glasses are rinsed with cold water before beer is poured. Their specialty food is house made sausages which are excellent and go great with beer. Everything is reasonably priced.

What sets Bangers apart is the service of the bartenders. I was there three different nights, with three different bartenders each night, and all provided the same excellent service. I have been to hundreds of "beer bars" including all of "classics" in San Fran, San Diego, Denver, Philly, Dc, etc. and except for maybe my hometown Maxs, no other bartenders had the knowledge of beer and the willingness to talk beer as what I found at Banger's. From making suggestions, offering samples and small pours to compare styles, to even breaking out a bottle of Pliny to share with the customers the service is second to none. They definitely make it a worthwhile beer experience. A definite must stop in Austin and IMO Austin's best beer bar. (1,252 characters)

My first stop on Rainey street. It was much larger than I was anticipating, I went inside to the bar since the back patio area was very full upon my arrival. Atmosphere was a bit stale inside but out in the courtyard it was really hopping. Quality was very high across the board, the space inside and out were top notch and the food and beer were as well. Service was good overall, had to wait for some of my beers but overall not bad. They have some of the most hipster people working for them that I have ever come across. Selection was top notch, over 100 taps from all over the country but the main focus remains on Texas beers which is always nice. I had plans to eat a larger meal later in the night so I only got an appetizer, the fried cheese curds, which were awesome. Prices were a bit high for my tastes but nothing over the top. Overall an awesome beer bar / restaurant in an amazing area, I will definitely return next time I am in the area. (954 characters)

The biggest tap wall in Austin. 104 taps. Tons of local stuff and a nice mix of stuff from all over the world. Food is fantastic, perfect menu to pair with the beer. They usually have rare cask offerings on tap. Only downside is parking. I highly recommend this beer bar!! (272 characters)

Banger's is a beautiful beer bar in the Rainey District, with an interior full of wood and classy touches that reminds me of an upscale BBQ joint (Fette Sau in Brooklyn comes to mind).

Beautiful wooden taps too- 101 of them, divided in light/wheat/hop heaven/amber&malty/dark&roasty/gluten free. About half of the drafts are Texas beers, and there is a separate menu with seasonal and limited beers (mostly bottled) such as Brewdog Bashah and three different Harviestoun editions. Also, 4 nitro taps. I had a glass of 2012 wine barrel-aged Adelbert's Dancin' Monk, and also Deschutes Black Butte XXIV.

Hipster bartenders, lively-but-not-loud atmosphere on a Friday night and good prices, around five or six dollars for small pours. I didn't try any food but they have plenty of sausages for everyone.

Oh, why not get the free tattoo they offer! I was very tempted... (872 characters)

The area it's in is all houses converted into bars/restaurants. Atmosphere is good definitely has that beer hall feel despite being in a house. 100 taps including several nitro and two firkins, plus numerous bottles with a giant heap of local brews available. You will have no trouble find a good beer here. Food menu is what you'd expect from a place call a sausage house. The artisinal sausages are excellent and relatively inexpensive. The staff was very knowledgeable and attentive, even suggesting stores nearby that carry the local beers. I will definitely be back.. (572 characters)

Bangers, Bangers, oh, Bangers! It's so enticing with its over 100 beer on tap, really beer-geek service staff, amazing sausage options and a beautiful atmosphere. Every time I'm there it feels like I'm at a big picnic event. It's one of those places we take all of our out of town guests to. (291 characters)

We stopped by Banger's for a couple of beers while I was visiting friends in Austin.

It's in a weird but neat area. Mostly residential, but then there are several houses that have been converted into restaurants and bars. Extremely limited street parking, and the sidewalks aren't always there. We walked from downtown.

Banger's has a nice understated indoor area with several long shared picnic tables, and a large outdoor space with more tables. Very communal and comfortable. A dash of hipster/trendy without being pretentious.

Beer selection is excellent. 101 on tap, with many Texas breweries represented. Great stop for out-of-town visitors who are looking for local stuff. Both of the beers I ordered were served up in proper glassware.

Service was fine. No problems.

I didn't try any food, but my friend said his biscuit (came with the fried chicken sausage) was excellent. (886 characters)

Went to eat here for lunch with a buddy and my wife. We were first seated in the sun out by ourselves when there was plenty of shade to sit in. We ask to move and we were quickly moveded. A+ The menu is that of sausage in just about any way you can think of. The german potato salad was out of this world. the beer selection was great as well. They also had bottles to go. Overall a nice place to visit and get some german food and a descent selection of beer (459 characters)

This place is great! A buddy and I dropped by after a visit to Jester King Brewery a few weeks ago. Got there around 4pm on a Saturday. Not totally packed at that time (went back that night and found it difficult to get a seat)

Love the outdoor seating. Bench tables lined up in several rows...great place to people watch and just chat with strangers. I gotta say the beer selection was phenominal. A littl something for everyone. Was quite pleased to see Sculpin and Firestone Walker stuff on tap.

Waiters were knowledgeable and enthusiastic to talk with customers about the beer and food. Just an overall pleasing vibe here without beeing pretentious. (655 characters)

Austin has developed and is still growing its craft beer scene, so there is a lot of competition. Having said that, this is one of my favorite beer bars in the city. The bar and wall of taps is one of best designs I have seen in a bar. The selection is expansive and rotates based on what the beer expert owner wants. More importantly the beer menu is fool-proof, indicating the style, brewery, and short tasting notes. Location is great, cool recently developed street with establishments running out of old houses. The backyard is very large featuring long communal tables and a music stage from which they host many events. While Draught House up north usually takes the cake, Banger's is fast becoming a major player in Austin's beer scene. (744 characters)

I am surprised nobody has reviewed this place yet. This is a great new beer bar that has been open for about 6 months. First off, everything is made of wood, a fairly long wood bar along the right, wood benches make up the main indoor dinning area. There is a chalkboard at the far end that will have specials, and events listed. The bar taps are made of wood (of coarse) and all numbered. There is a huge outdoor seating area. Which on this beautiful day is perfect. Though, there is no shade what so ever in the beer garden, I can't imagine that will be a happening spot wants the summer comes along (unless they put some kind of shade in). Anyway, still a great place to chill and relax with a beer and good food.

Service at the bar was quick and friendly. He told us the lunch special, and was very knowledgeable on the beers available, and what had been blown. The food is excellent. All house made sausages, and the lunch special is hard to beat. One of their traditional sausages, a side, and a Texas pint for $8. That is a very good deal. When not on special, I can see this a bit more pricey, but still very reasonable. Andouille sausage, kaloche bun, and braised greens. For the sausage and bun, they come with house recommendations which is great. Or you can choose your own. The sausage itself was excellent. I thought the greens were very good, though not great. I had some German potato salad as well, which was excellent. Very flavorful, with a good vinegary kick. My buddies Italian sausage look great as well.

On to the beer! Tons of taps. Right at 100, which is ridiculous. Also a cask, that happened to be out. Austin breweries are very well represented, as well is the rest of the state. Close to 30 plus Texas taps. I saw some Firestone Walker on as well. Really an excellent selection all around. I enjoyed a Hops & Grain Alt. I can't imagine how this place turns over taps in a timely manner. Still, I can't really knock them cause what I had was very fresh.

Yep, this is a good place. In my short visit, this has already become one of my favorite beer bars in Austin. Not nearly as tiresome to navigate as Draught House, with just as good, if not better, selection as them or Gman. Not to mention the awesome food. I look forward to visiting again when I get a chance. (2,295 characters)
