This beer is close to black, some chocolaty brown hues detected in the body. The head is a soft brown and bubbly, reaching about 3/4 of a finger and falling slowly. Lacing is pretty good overall.
The smell is raw coffee, pretty much straight oily coffee beans, maybe some just freshly ground. it complemented by some roastiness and a creamy soft of cocoa, and it's interestingly nutty as well.
The coffee builds up on the tongue as I continue to drink it, but the strongest flavor is that of tart and tangy kind of dark fruits. It doesn't have a big roast to set it up on, but the malt backbone is pretty firm.
It's got a firm body that's medium verging on strong. This would make for a body that just fits for a stout. The bottle calls it an imperial stout, for which it's a bit light. The roast lends it some dryness but some creaminess counters it. it's lightly crisp as well, fortunately not too heavy on the bite.
