Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale is amber in color and has a completely clear body. The head of foam on this beer is creamy with a lively carbonation and it lasts a decent amount of time. The aroma of this beer is one of light spices with just a small amount of pumpkin
This beer is medium to light in body with a taste that emphasizes light malt with light spices such as clove, nutmeg, and others. The pumpkin factor in this beer is rather weak although it does come through a little bit more in the aftertaste. The overall taste is bland and the flavor of crystal malt is pronounced. The finish of this beer is a little bit metallic and not very good.
If one thing could be changed to make this beer better tasting, it would be a reduction in the amount of crystal malt. There is too much crystal malt and it leads to an unpleasant aftertaste. There also isnt as much pumpkin as I would like. The beer is also a little too light.
Taken as a whole, this beer has little to offer the lover of pumpkin brew or any other brew. It isnt as good as Blue Moon Belgian White (the companys best seller) and it isnt as good as most other pumpkin brews. Its a seasonal beer to avoid.
