Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into a dimpled imperial glass mug.
A: Poured a rich, deep copper color with orange highlights and a thick crown of bubbling carbonation. The head retention wasn't great, but carbonation was decent.
S: Smells of spicy, malted fruit, clove, cinnamon and pumpkin.
T: Taste is an initial malted sweetness rooted in caramel malt with some grainy notes, followed by a rush of pumpkin spice flavors, cinnamon, allspice and pumpkin seed, but just as a quick flash. The finish is quick, clean and dry, with only minimal pumpkin aftertaste.
M: Mouthfeel is medium bodied and crisp despite it's sweet, yet dry, flavors.
D: One of the more solid drinking pumpkin ales out there in my opinion. Flavors are good, but not overpowering, and the malty flavor is solid for a session at 5.6% ABV.
Harvest Moon ranks among some of my top pumpkin ales, as it's flavors are light enough not to dominate the palate, allowing the solid pale ale nature of the brew to come through, but also subtle enough to let you know autumn has arrived. It won't unseat DFH Punkin' at the top of my list, but it's top 5.
