A - nice rust color

S - pumpkin, spices

T - mostly spices, but very little pumpkin

M - light body, decent carbination

O - An average pumpkin ale with more pumpkin scent than taste (an issue I'm having with most pumpkin beers recently).

The Blue Moon Fall Seasonal 12-pack was only $11.20 at local grocery store so not a terrible purchase. Better than Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale which seems to get a lot of love.

I have to say I love pumpkin brews grab em when I see em,this one pours a nice copper with a nice two fingered fluffy head but it didnt retain itself to well or leave any lacing.I picked up huge amounts of malt in the aroma but not a big pumpkin nose I got some orange peel mainly with some pumpkin spice notes that come after a while.Taste is decent not over the top on pumpkin but nice and subtle with the spice in the finish has a nice lightly sweet malt profile to it just a light citruisy hop note late wich is very faint.A respectable brew from Coors (thought I would never say that) subtle and quaffable for the fall season.

Tried this on on an impulse buy... Harvest moon Pumpkin Ale 5.6% alcohol.

A- Pours a maltly medium orange with fluffy white head that falls to a very carbonated froth on the top of the beer. Leaves mild to none lacing... Just looks plain in the glass.

S- I'm not getting much of a scent from this one but a little faint malt and very soft spices. ( nutmeg and cinnamon)

T-M- The taste is kinda disapointing for a Pumpkin ale. It does have a fresh taste of crystal malt with very small doses of cinnamon, nutmeg, and maybe a unnoticed pumpkin hint. Mouthfeel is dry with nothing to set it aside from any other large beer maker... In one word bland.

D- Easily consumed beer is not always the way to go. As a pumpkin ale this one just fails.

Beer review from BA Mag Oct 2007.

Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale is a spawn of the Blue Moon portfolio, which is part of the Molson Coors Brewing Company. It's been around since September 1996 and is now brewed in Toronto, Canada.

Right away we noticed the exceptional head retention, with tiny bubbles that leave some lacing behind. Bright copper color; clarity is perfect. Spicy sweet aroma, smell of gingersnaps, biscotti and caramel. A bit of smoothness comes out from the crisp moderately sized body. Spicy over the top with a hint of alcohol that warms after each sip; bready malt flavors for the base peak in the middle yet fade quickly. The caramel malt flavor seems to have more of an impact on the palate and does seem to balance the spiciness for the most part. Minimal hopping lets the spices come through fully with more of an allspice flavor than anything else. Finishes just as spicy as it started with a slow drying end.

We'll say it: too clean. Perhaps the lack of hops and bitterness? But this is to be expected coming from a big brewer. With that said, it just does not have the same gritty raw feel to it and it's hard to imagine a brewer chopping pumpkins for the mash when a beer is this clean. A good beer for the faint of palate.

I saw this one at the store today and decided to give it a go. And I found that it was no suprise that this beer was just average at best. The pour was ok with a copper color body and a decent size head but it faded quickly and left no lace whatsoever. There was not much smell at all to the brew but what I could sniff were mostly sweet malts and faint spices. As for the taste, I was expecting more. The subtle sweetness from the malts and the light spiciness tasted good, but it was too weak. If they would have used the same flavoring but kicked it up a couple notches this beer would not taste half bad. As it is, it's another watered down product from Coors.

This was a pretty amber color with a medium sized white head. Very sweet malty aroma, with a fairly pronounced spiciness. The taste was malty with a persistant, obtrusive spiciness. This was a too spicy beer, one that wasn't very enjoyable. My wife likes these, fortunately. She can drink the rest.

12 oz bottle, dated Feb 1, 2009. Pours a clear reddish amber with a thin fizzy head that quickly diminishes to a thin film that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is sweet vegetal malts, toast and some pumpkin spices, especially cinnamon. There's a metallic note as well.

The flavor is sweet malts and squash, with some nutmeg and cinnamon. There's a little off bitterness and some heavy sweetness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some sharp carbonation.

Overall, an OK beer. There are much better pumpkin beers available, but this is drinkable.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz. bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: The body has a deep amber color with good clarity. Its head is off white in color and builds up big and fluffy before quickly fading to just a very thin covering. Lacing is slick and slides down the glass as I drink.

Smell: Its aroma has hints of pumpkin with spicy clove and cinnamon over sweet bready malts.

Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor fairly mild with a semi-sweet bready malt mixed with touch of pumpkin and over cooked vegetables. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and pinch of clove add a pleasant spicy character that is well balanced and not overpowering. The finish picks up some mild hop bitterness and the spices slowly fade off the tongue. It has a slick watery texture with a light body and mild carbonation.

Notes: I like that the spices don't dominate the entire flavor but the pumpkin could be a little more vibrant and it seemed to lack body. Overall it is still not bad and it is easy to drink.

This is what I would expect from a large brewery. No imagination or risks taken. It would be a mediocre marzen, it is a poor attempt at a pumpkin ale! A lack of spices and pumpkin flavor leave this beer falling well short of the niche it was meant to satisfy!

12oz brown bottle with a freshness date printed on the neck of the bottle.

Pours a stiff head, two finger high. Brilliant copper color. Gourd aroma with some faint spicing and caramel-like malt. Snap in the crispness, pretty smooth with a moderate sized body. Even spicing with some pumpkin going on. Dry maltiness aside from a quick push of caramel. Very little hopping here which is fine. Finishes dry with some spice.

Nothing epic but not to shabby either. A decent pick for a low key holiday party that perhaps has a lot of non-beer drinkers.
