On tap.
Has a very weak aroma but, fortunately a less weak flavor. Still, the flavor is meek, even for Blue Moon, with a slightly sweet balance.

Feel: Near medium body and medium+ carbonation.

O: decent but too mild. Very light flavored compared to the Abita Amber sampled after it.

I had the whole six pack.
IT is a red brown ale that had about 1/2 to 1 inche head, nice lacing. no cloud, so it was filtered.
rich dark amber malt notes, some light hop notes. chocolate and toffee some burnt sugar.
Very rich malt front end with lots of character. nice balance to the malt side, still there is a slight hop bite. easy to drink, refreshing even
medium carbonation, kind of thin though, not quite a medium body. semi watery should have been IMHo a strong beer with more malt for winter.

its a decent brew. Nothing world class but drinkable. sweet refreshing beer. its a nice try and I know they could do it a tad better. and hey its not a wit or a PA, go figure. no fruit needed.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass.

A - Clear amber with a moderate head and some lacing.

S - The added sugars give it almost an adjunct-like smell.

T - Some malt and caramel with sweet overtones.

M - Decent enough with a good carbonation level.

O - Not what I expected from anything with the name "Belgian" on the label. An OK beer, but closer to a Michelob Amber Bock than anything I have ever had labeled Belgian.

Blue Moon mountain abbey ale 6pk bottles $8.99(OH)

12 oz twist off brown bottle poured into a stemless white wine glass. freshness date marked in yellow on bottle neck.

pours a dark reddish brown. very deep copper. two fingers of off white head that dissipate rather quickly. leaving a nice skim layer, but no lacing.

i agree with RETROMAN40 it has a rather adjunct smell. kind of like Busch copper lager. i smell some roasted malts, some spices, a sugary backbone and caramel.

malt at fist, then caramel taste with a coppery feel. a sugary warmth on the finish, which is bad since this brew is only 5.6%ABV. the after taste is gone in seconds, just leaving a sugary syrup feel/taste in the mouth.

mouth feel is light, coppery, and sweet. the brew is not watery, but lacks a quality feel.

overall this is not what i expected. Original Blue Moon was great, this however is not a great brew. its simply OK. the sugar content takes away from the smell and taste.

Pours we'll. Dark amber color. Nice head, but thin to no lacing. Smells pretty average, but tastes much better—malty, smooth, slight Carmel. Light hop on the end. Easy drinking. O: enjoyable.

On a side note, I am a bit disappointed they departed from their usual "Winter Abby Ale" (dubble), which I always felt was a nice 'light' version of an Abby Ale—and instead went to this brown ale as their current (2013) winter style.
