This copper-colored ale is crafted with roasted malts, Belgian sugar and a touch of wheat for a rich caramel flavor and a smooth toffee finish.

From notes taken 02/04/17:
I get that Blue Moon is kind of a lame brewer so maybe this isn’t up to standard for any other style, but I still ave a hard time calling this a Brown Ale.
Fairly clear until dregs are added. Deep dark copper to darker reddish brown in appearance. Pleasant creamy tan head, filmy, frothy, weak to moderate retention. Caramel, toast, a little dark fruit, banana- and fast fading licorice-like notes, possibly esters. Palate is a meld of toffee, caramel, dark fruit malt tartness, and candy sugar throughout but wheat makes a showing and tarts dies down a bit toward the finish. Medium to full in body, velvety smooth effervescence that just soaks into sides of mouth. In some ways, similar to beers with almost twice the amount of alcohol. In fact, better than some of them that I have seen rated at 100 by The Bros, but I will acknowledge that that is probably just my relative aversion to certain Belgian characteristics (namely vinegar, weird vegetal flavors from the yeast, reliance on lighter fruit suggestions in certain beers, all of which I can tolerate in moderation and find interesting, but none of which are my favorites), rather than reflecting any quality in this particular beer.

Somewhat cloying sweet with a brown sugar taste.
Nice copper appearance, much darker than I expected (thinking of Blue Moon Belgian). Decent head which dissipated quickly to nice rimming and lacing that lasted for at least 20 minutes or more (I got distracted after I poured it!).
Nose is not strong but it's pleasant, with what seems like hints of chocolate malts.
Taste is too sweet for my preferences, I guess I was expecting something along the lines of a dark Dubel or something. Dark fruits like plum and prune, dark sugar, overall taste is pleasant and nothing off-putting except a little too sweet.
Feel is a little thick, nice, no macro traits that I can discern despite being owned by Coors.
Overall I may buy some of this next time it's on the shelves.

Weak and unimpressive, medium brown body with almost zero head. Sour malt aroma. Flat malt flavor with none of the spiciness Belgians are known for. Pass!

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 4/13/2015. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana/clove, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Okay aromas with solid complexity and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast notes; with poor strength. Taste of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana/clove, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light earthy yeast spiciness/bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, pear, apple, light banana/clove, caramel, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Solid complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast notes; with a solid malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is okay. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a decent brown ale, but it felt more like an English than a Belgian style. All around solid complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; and pretty smooth and easy to drink. A fairly enjoyable offering.
