Poured into a pilsner glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy orange with a creamy, fluffy white head with decent retention. The lacing on the sides of the glass is pretty decent. There is carbonation in this beer as evidenced by the bubbles inside of the glass. Overall, a pretty good looking beer.

Smell: Coriander is the overwhelming spice in this brew. There are also strong hints of citrus. Basically, there is no wheat characteristic to this beer, so you can tell that the taste will be different from your typical bar experience.

Taste: It starts with a citrus tinge, which is followed by the taste of malts and grain. The coriander makes an appearance during all this as well. The finish is crisp, and leaves you wanting more. And no, this does not require an orange peel, no matter what people tell you.

Mouthfeel: The beer has a light to medium body, with some crisp carbonation to back it up. It compliments the citrus taste nicely.

Drinkability: Despite the sweeter nature of these, drinking a few of them is an easy proposition. A good beer to have if everything else on tap in a bar is sub-standard.

It really surprised me to learn that Coors is behind the creation of this beer. Bravo, it's a respectible beer in its own right, and a good gateway for those looking for something a little more adventurous.

look: 3 | smell: 2 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: Pours a hazy orange-gold; I swirled it, but there was lots of sediment left in the bottle. Head is 4" in pilsner glass, faded to lingering off-white 1/2" foam. Little sign of effervescence, no lacing left on the sides of the glass.

Aroma: Yeasty and bready. Little there. Grain.

Taste: Clean, watery arrival. Hint of sweetness across mid-palate. Citrus on the finish. Whither the hops?

Mouthfeel: Very slight effervescence and slick-but-clean feel.

Overall: Decent example of the style; always a fave, never disappoints, but doesn't really set itself apart, either. Good for parties and happy hours in the summer.

Always one of my favorite. Golden color, solid foam, and a cloudy look once poured. Smells of citrus fruit is great. The taste is non bitter and very easy going down. I understand that Blue Moon may not be a craft beer in the truest sense, but its a favorite of mine. Always a fall back choice.
