12oz bottle, weizen glass, best by September 5, 2011.
But for the quickly dissipating cream colored head, this looks the part of wheat beer. The color is golden and cloudy.
Sadly, this reminds me of the fruit loop sweetness that is Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat. This is not quite as bad, more on the beery side. Coriander, wheat, Meyer lemon or orange peel, and fruit loops.
This style is really not one I favor. I do suppose this isn't a bad job on the style; all the elements of wheat, coriander, and citrus peel are in there. There is a chalky yeast element with a bit of sulfur or other mineral.
It doesn't feel cheap, or light. It has a familiar wheat mouthfeel, that whole grain weight on the tongue. Carbonation is ample.
I must conclude that Wit is just one of the few styles that I really do not care for. This isn't bad, but I'm not more likely to buy one of these or any other Wit over any kind of pale ale.
