I've had Blue Moon before, but never the summer ale seasonal from Coors. Grabbed the last six pack from the Class Six on post out of curiosity. Poured into a Weizen glass. Pours a light golden tinged with a hint of copper, one finger of white head. Little retention.
Smells pretty sweet and malty. Wheat on the grain bill, not surprising, and honey. Taste is fairly sweet with a varied malt presence, and you do get the unmistakable honey note on the back end in particular. Good effect. Citrus is there in the background but I was expecting it to be more pronounced.
Light mouthfeel, moderate carbonation leaves for a refreshing, effervescent feel on the palate. This, combined with the honey notes at the end, saves this beer from being a disappointment. Wish I had it as part of a mixed six so I could try something new instead of having another, but I wouldn't mind drinking another.
