Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine April 2007.
Yet another spawn of the very popular Blue Moon Belgian White has hit the shelves: an Amber Wheat Ale brewed with kieffer lime leaves and lime peel. Looks like someone's been watching a few of the smaller craft brewers out there. Interesting. Also, the Blue Moon brand is now brewed in Canada, apparently.
Thin, foamy white lace stays for a good while. Stunning amber color shows off a good clarity. Earthy lime aroma is light, but the peel is prominent. Cooked cereal smell from the wheat; more or less a clean nose. Crisp and smooth with a moderate body. Wheat flavor dangles that crispness underneath the flash of lime-peel flavor. Minimal hop bitterness with a clean palate. Finishes dry, with hints of cake frosting, lime candy and wheat cereal.
Not bad at all, but they would've been better off making this a bit more pale, bumping up the lime flavor a notch and making it a summer seasonal. Are they trying to please the beer geek and the Blue Moon loyalist at the same time? Some tequila and lime-marinated chicken with mango salsa and black beans sounds like a great pairing.
