Am. lager for first warm days of spring this year.
A little malt, a little corn. mild yeast qualities. Kinda' standard, but solid and pleasing.
Dark for style, darker gold to bronze. Nice dense white head. Very clear.
Sharp prickly carbonation, creates full mouthfeel and softness. A little heavier body than is standard for style.
Heavier malt flavor for style. A touch of sweetness. Adjunct more hidden than in the aroma. Clear hop flavors (a little spicy and herbal) and smooth transition to the bitterness, which lingers through a long rather dry finish.
A bigger tasting and fuller richer lager than typical.

Solid golden color with some off-white froth on top. Sweet, clean malt and grassy, spicy hop aromas. More noble-like hops in he mouth with some added floral character, sweet-ish cereal grain, hay, and fruity yeast. Pretty crisp and lightly bitter. Not too shabby all around, for what it is.

I found this at Sal's Liquors in Addison, IL for $8.99 a 6 pack. Never heard of this Coor's product before, so picked it up more out of curiosity than anything else. 12oz brown bottles with no freshness date.

The beer pours a perfectly clear gold color with a big 4-finger white head that lasts awhile and leaves lots of nice lacing.

Some grain and some grass in the aroma, but overall not much of a smell.

It has a crackery malt base with a little corn sweetness to it along with a mild bitter hop bite.

Between light and medium in body with medium carbonation.

A decent effort from Coors.

Appearance: Clear deep golden color, with a massive, dense white head, which retains superbly. The carbonation is slight. The lacing is dense and complex, resembling alien hieroglyphics.

Aroma: Lots of grain with a solid grassy aroma., and a modest herbal hop aroma.

Taste: Opens with a solid grain backbone, very much like a Czech Pilsener, absent the classic cracker malt. As the taste progresses, fairly sharp herbal and grassy hop notes appear, these turn to a medicinal cast as the taste draws to a close.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, full, quite pleasant.

Drinkability/notes: Very nicely done, Coors has upped their game quite a bit with this example.

Presentation: Packaged in a custom twelve-ounce brown glass long-neck bottle, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

On tap at We the Pizza in Washington DC. Pours a medium glowing golden with a small white head. Aroma of pale malt, some sweet caramel, grainy and a touch of honey. Flavor is much of the same, a bit of honey, pale grain and slightly bland. A fairly strong metallic flavor I wasn't big on. Finishing lightly bitter and a touch of grassy hops. Light to medium body and a fairly high carbonation. Interesting what they are going for, though could have been better still.

On tap at the Village Tavern, in Geneseo, NY.

Pours a golden yellow color. One inch head, not much lacing at all.

Smells like grain, malt, honey, and grass.

The taste is very similar- nice to have actual flavor in an adjunct Coors product. Honey malt sweetness, with some grassy hop flavors, almost akin to pilsner like hop flavor, but not as strong.

Light bodied, well carbonated, easily drinkable.

Probably Coors' best product, including the million different Blue Moon variants. Was pleasantly surprised with this one.

Batch 19 is deep gold, with a fizzy off-white head that slowly falls to a patchwork film. A smattering of lace is left behind.

So this is what pre-Prohibition American beer was supposedly like? Not bad. 19 has a solid straw and dry grain backbone that's bolstered by a mild, yet balancing pepper bitterness. A very light honey sweetness sits in the background. The medium-light body has some substance to it and is rather dry. The carbonation feels about right. The beer finishes with lingering pepper and dry grain flavors.

Overall, Batch 19 is a nice little beer in a Schlitz Gusto sort of way. Although I doubt Coors will ever veer away from their more vapid staples, Batch 19 shows that they really can produce a decent beer.
